Not exactly on topic but I heard Lou Reed's version of Heroin (from Rock and Roll Animal) before I heard the Velvet Underground version. I listened to Lou's version so much that I still think of it as the original version.

As a Red Sox fan I'm happy about Sale but sorry to see Moncada go. That said, he looked pretty overmatched in his brief appearance in the majors this year (struck out 12 times in 19 at bats). I know it's small sample size and he's young so I expect he'll get it together.

First one I remember is being shocked to discover that Signed Sealed Delivered was not a Peter Frampton original but that Stevie Wonder did it first. I saw Jerry Garcia cover Tangled Up In Blue. I bought Blood on the Tracks the next day and it has remained one of my favorite albums ever since Feelies covering Mannequin (Wire) Replacements covering Another Girl Another Planet (The Only Ones), Iron Man (Sabbath), and Black Diamond (KISS) REM covering Crazy (Pylon) Bangles covering September Gurls (Big Star)

Netflix has said there will be six seasons, each with 10 episodes, and each season covering about a decade. Not sure if the key cast members have committed to that.

Not reading it yet but last night I saw Michael Chabon read from his new novel Moonglow. I'm a big fan - though I didn't really like his last book (Telegraph Avenue).

I thought it was a great night. As one of my friends said it was perhaps the most 1990s Boston thing ever when J Mascis joined Buffalo Tom and they did a cover of Galaxie 500's Tugboat.

My college-aged son didn't vote. He said that he didn't like either candidate and that his vote in Massachusetts - where he is registered - wouldn't make a difference because Clinton was going to win it easily. I tried to convince him that it was an obligation, that he should vote even if it didn't decide who won, etc. etc. but I couldn't sway him.

My cousin told me to go see Arcade Fire at TTs and I ignored his advice. I saw them at the Royale on their second swing through for Funeral. I saw the Pixies open for Throwing Muses at the Rat (summer '87) and then at the Ritz in NYC (spring '88). I also saw Pixies headline at the Rat, TTs, and the Paradise in the '88-'90 timeframe.

I saw REM at BU in the summer of '85. I saw the Pixies opening for Throwing Muses twice, including once before Come On Pilgrim had been released. Arcade Fire and White Stripes (separately) in a big club.

Nice one. Really fantastic show.
