  1. Going to see them tomorrow night - and very much looking forward to it.
  2. Hard to keep up with the trades this afternoon but I can't remember ever seeing the Yankees reloading the way they have been this week. Nova and Beltran just traded ...
  3. "Listened to Jesus etc. Was like Neil Young but a lot worse."
  4. Just bought tickets to see Teenage Fanclub in October ...
  5. Been watching Luther and really enjoying it.
  6. Magnetic Fields 100000 Fireflies Born on a Train All the Umbrellas in London All My Little Words The Death of Ferdinand de Saussure
  7. Yup. I've stuck with Kozelek for a while but I think he's lost me ...
  8. I love the comment someone posted on your FB page: "I am the Lorax and I speak for the trees!"
  9. I still listen to this one regularly - probably more than any other REM album.
  10. The other interesting data I saw was voter turnout by age: for the 18-24 age group turnout was 36% and for the 55+ group it was 81%. I don't know the raw numbers of voters in each group but it's telling when turnout is that low.
  11. Not heard but read. I was in a waiting room and there was a Rolling Stone from a few months ago that had an article about Ethan Hawke which said: "Then came some tough times. In 2003, Hawke and Thurman split, followed by a lonesome stretch in which he retreated to an island cabin in Nova Scotia and drove around in the rain listening to Wilco's A Ghost is Born."
  12. And further in the small print: "Tickets may be claimed on a first come, first served basis. Once the “free tickets” made available for a specific event have been claimed, you will not be able to use your Ticket Codes to acquire tickets for that event." I'll be curious to see how many "free tickets" are made available to shows that people on this board will want to see.
  13. Watched this again last night. It's a pretty fascinating story and I think it holds up pretty well as a movie.
  14. I just started listening to the 99% Invisible podcast and they had a recent episode about cassette tapes. Apparently one of the big users groups for cassettes is prisoners. http://99percentinvisible.org/episode/loud-and-clear/
  15. Really liking William Tyler's new one ...
  16. I'm a big fan of McCann and liked that book. The (true) story of him getting attacked that he mentions in the forward (or maybe the afterward) is pretty tough.
  17. Patti Smith, Elvis Costello, and Ryan Adams (and others) just added ... http://www.vanyaland.com/2016/05/26/newport-folk-adds-patti-smith-alabama-shakes-elvis-costello-ryan-adams-2016-lineup/
  18. I might have to check this one out ...
  19. Nice game by Max Scherzer last night. And the (Red) Sox's Jackie Bradley Junior is on quite a tear. He is so good defensively but it's nice to see him hitting well.
  20. We've been watching Hinterland, which has a similar feel to Wallander (but set in Wales).
  21. The Pablo Sandoval situation just went from bad to weird: he's now out for the season with shoulder surgery. http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/redsox/2016/05/02/pablo-sandoval-have-shoulder-surgery/K28Kn96WrRkkwkrPaVe0RI/story.html
  22. I realize it is ten years old but I just saw this earlier today and thought it was pretty funny: http://www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/notes-on-sweet-child-o-mine-as-delivered-to-axl-rose-by-his-editor
