Mine arrived lat night. Only listened once but I like it. And the signatures look good too.

The Harry Potter book? It's OK. I'm glad I read it but I'm not sure it's a vital part of the Harry Potter canon. My daughter (who is pretty fanatical about HP) described it as above-average fan fiction. And it's the script of the play so it has a very different feel than the other books.

Just started watching Freaks and Geeks with my daughter and we are both enjoying it. I don't think I've seen an episode since they first aired. I'm pretty much the exact age as the geek crowd (freshman in high school in 79-80) so much of it hits home. I remember the freak crowd walking around looking dazed when John Bonham died. It's a great show.

Yes! Saw it last night and Krasinski was there for a Q&A. He was asked generally about the music in the movie and he had a funny response. He said that as an actor and even the director you may have ideas about the music but you still need to go through the producer. But in this case he was the producer too so he got to pick his favorite music. He said the songs in the movie were basically his soundtrack while they were scouting, casting, and shooting the movie.

"It is a concert plagued by errors, a combination of flubbed vocals, bum notes, and non-synchronized swimming."

I saw their last Boston show (at the Sinclair) and it was great. Can't make it tonight ...

Yes, they got back together for a bit. They played some shows in the UK last month and now they are playing some US shows. They were great. They played some new songs mixed in with a bunch of their original stuff. Lots of fun, lots of energy. Tanya has talked about the first album before. As you said, it was supposed to be the Breeders' next album but apparently Kim Deal had to commit to an extensive Pixies tour at the time so Tanya just put a band together as Belly. And I'm going again tonight!

Hard to keep up with the trades this afternoon but I can't remember ever seeing the Yankees reloading the way they have been this week. Nova and Beltran just traded ...

I love the comment someone posted on your FB page: "I am the Lorax and I speak for the trees!"

I still listen to this one regularly - probably more than any other REM album.

Politics 2016 (election edition)

The other interesting data I saw was voter turnout by age: for the 18-24 age group turnout was 36% and for the 55+ group it was 81%. I don't know the raw numbers of voters in each group but it's telling when turnout is that low. -
Not heard but read. I was in a waiting room and there was a Rolling Stone from a few months ago that had an article about Ethan Hawke which said: "Then came some tough times. In 2003, Hawke and Thurman split, followed by a lonesome stretch in which he retreated to an island cabin in Nova Scotia and drove around in the rain listening to Wilco's A Ghost is Born."
