  1. Quite a finish in the Red Sox-Yankees game. It's easy to second guess but this one is on Girardi.
  2. Joey Santiago checks into rehab: http://www.pixiesmusic.com/2016/09/official-band-statement/
  3. Oh I agree - I was (mostly) joking. For an event like this they need to have it tightly controlled or it would be mayhem from the outset. I go to author readings/book signings fairly regularly and there is always someone who pulls out the author's entire works and wants each book signed and then wants to have a conversation with the author.
  4. Got a wristband! But the list of instructions is like going through the TSA. Ticket is non-transferable. No signatures allowed. You are required to buy a copy of the book at the event. No bags or memorabilia. Bookstore is closed three hours before the event. You will be handed a pre-signed copy of the book and will have one picture taken with Bruce. You cannot look him in the eye. (OK, I made that last one up ...)
  5. Yes, bböp - thanks for doing these recaps! I look forward to reading them.
  6. Nice! I'm going to try for the Cambridge one. Wristbands are available tomorrow.

  8. Finished watching Freaks and Geeks over the weekend. This scene always gets me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmCpmEQD0L4
  9. Mine arrived lat night. Only listened once but I like it. And the signatures look good too.
  10. The Harry Potter book? It's OK. I'm glad I read it but I'm not sure it's a vital part of the Harry Potter canon. My daughter (who is pretty fanatical about HP) described it as above-average fan fiction. And it's the script of the play so it has a very different feel than the other books.
  11. Just started watching Freaks and Geeks with my daughter and we are both enjoying it. I don't think I've seen an episode since they first aired. I'm pretty much the exact age as the geek crowd (freshman in high school in 79-80) so much of it hits home. I remember the freak crowd walking around looking dazed when John Bonham died. It's a great show.
  12. Yes! Saw it last night and Krasinski was there for a Q&A. He was asked generally about the music in the movie and he had a funny response. He said that as an actor and even the director you may have ideas about the music but you still need to go through the producer. But in this case he was the producer too so he got to pick his favorite music. He said the songs in the movie were basically his soundtrack while they were scouting, casting, and shooting the movie.
  13. "It is a concert plagued by errors, a combination of flubbed vocals, bum notes, and non-synchronized swimming."
  14. I Am Trying to Break Your Heart followed by Someday Some Morning Sometime at Yazoo Pass in Clarksdale Mississippi on Monday afternoon.
  15. Going to Mississippi and then Memphis next week so I thought I'd jump into this.
  16. I saw their last Boston show (at the Sinclair) and it was great. Can't make it tonight ...
  17. Yes, they got back together for a bit. They played some shows in the UK last month and now they are playing some US shows. They were great. They played some new songs mixed in with a bunch of their original stuff. Lots of fun, lots of energy. Tanya has talked about the first album before. As you said, it was supposed to be the Breeders' next album but apparently Kim Deal had to commit to an extensive Pixies tour at the time so Tanya just put a band together as Belly. And I'm going again tonight!
  18. Let's go make a picture On the island of Stromboli Eric Burdon
  19. Going to see them tomorrow night - and very much looking forward to it.
  20. Hard to keep up with the trades this afternoon but I can't remember ever seeing the Yankees reloading the way they have been this week. Nova and Beltran just traded ...
