Watched this the other night. I think i saw it when it first came out and had forgotten much of it. I think it does a nice job of capturing the ups and downs of being a band with limited success and an ardent cult following. They obviously edited it to include lots of scenes of the band sitting around or being in a van or getting on each others nerves.

That is awesome.

To KevinG's point above, it is interesting how/why a story like the kids in the cave captivates so many people while a story like 3,000 kids at the Mexican border becomes accepted or a story like the boat that capsized off of Thailand on Saturday killing at least 44 people gets little to no attention. I thought I understood the difficulty of what they were doing but then this morning there seemed to be a lot more video of it. Wow - that is extraordinary.

I was there. My friend who I went with was a reporter and though he wasn't covering the show he showed his press ID to security and it got us through the traffic line.

That's great! And you are right - there is something about being in a place where music was written or that inspired the music and it brings it all together. I've not been to Scotland but maybe this will inspire me to make a trip.

Ezra? Or Pound? And I get it. If I avoided all art/music/literature by people who did horrible things then I'd miss out on a lot. Lou Reed is one of my musical heroes and by most accounts he was a pretty unpleasant guy. I agree with Kidsmoke's comments above about Woody Allen. I see his movies differently now (particularly Manhattan) than when I first saw them. I think the Diaz stuff is tricky for me because I am literally in the middle of his book while also reading these allegations against him.

I know the relationship between the art and the artist is a tricky one and I'm mired in it right now. About a week ago I started reading Junot Diaz's "The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao," I've had it for a while but have never read it. Then I also read his piece in the New Yorker about the abuse he suffered as a child and felt sympathetic towards him. And then the allegations came out late in the week about his shitty and abusive behavior towards numerous people and I sort of don't want to read his book any more. I recognize that much of the art/music/literature that I have enjoyed over

One of the great things about going to a game at Fenway is organist Josh Kantor. He's been in a bunch of bands, sits in with everyone from the Baseball Project to the Boston Pops, and he takes requests (via twitter) during the game. At tonight's game someone just requested Spiders and he responded "I mean... everybody loves an 11-minute song that pretty much only has one note, right? Stick around; I'll sneak it in at the end."

One of my top 10 of all time.
