  8. They are playing three shows next week, one in Brooklyn and two in Boston. Have not heard anything about a new album.

  10. The last time I saw fIREHOSE they opened for the Lemonheads, and that was a pretty good night of music.
  11. I never saw the minutemen but I saw fIREHOSE at least five times and they always delivered a great show. I'd go see them again.

  13. Wingdale Community Singers. Great overlooked album from a few years ago. The core of the band is David Grubbs, Hannah Marcus, and (author) Rick Moody.

  18. Going to see them (with Cracker) in a couple of weeks. Saw them a bunch a long time ago but I don't think I've seen them in about 20 years.

  20. Was pretty disappointed by this. The first half has some interesting stuff and interviews with a bunch of the original No Wave musicians but then it switches to the early 2000s and presents bands like the Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and the Liars as the next generation of NYC bands. And then it cuts back to old timers like Lydia Lunch who complain about how these new bands have nothing to them. It's a false comparison to begin with and the old timers just come across as cranky.
  21. I first knew Will Oldham (Bonnie 'Prince' Billy) as an actor. He was great as a teenage preacher in John Sayles' movie Matewan.
