  1. Superchunk tonight. Pretty excited. First time seeing them...
  2. Autumn Defense went on at 11pm. The venue's acoustics are terrible and it was clear during the first songs they played that the sound wasn't good on stage either. Pat was constantly giving direction for his monitors between songs. I have to admit to leaving because of the sound after about 6 songs. It was a decent sized crowd, but they weren't attentive at the beginning of Autumn Defense's set and there was a fair amount of chatter in the back during Giving Tree Band's set too. Looking forward to/hoping to see Autumn Defense at Lincoln Hall or somewhere with great sound (Space in Evansto
  3. My first time at Concord was last night. It is a really terrible venue. Looks nice enough, but the sound competes with the Aragon for worst in the City by my ears. Felt bad for the AD from a sound standpoint - they appeared to be having the same issue from the stage. And then there was the crowd, who barely noticed they were on the stage...
  4. I'm going. I don't know the answer to your question. Based on the limited info, I would guess they go on around 10:45. I'm figuring that based on the below logic Doors 8 Dick Prall 8:45-9:15 Giving Tree 9:45-10:15 AD 10:45-11:45 Leagues 12:15-1:30 I could be way off...
  5. Autumn Defense + Giving Tree, Leagues & Dick Prall
  6. I usually get to the Vic right when doors open and am able to get a spot within the first third of the ground floor. Like hinko says, it depends where you want to be.
  7. Gush: Top cd I came across in 2013. In large part due to the Sound Opinions radio show/podcast. They killed it at Pitchfork this summer too. Also a great fast tempo album that is fun to run to and I did a lot of that last year. Highly encourage all to check them out.
  8. It was a fun evening. I thought the comedy was great - especially the headliners Mike and Aidy. Jeff came out around 8:30 and played to about 10:00PM. He mentioned early in the set that he hadn't picked up a guitar in 3 weeks and I have to say that it showed. A fair amount of bum notes throughout the evening. Jeff also mentioned not feeling like playing music. He had his cell phone on the table with the setlist and harmonicas and was looking at it between songs and in some cases during songs. Lots of jokes about texts coming in and how popular he was including texts from Beck, Weir and, s

  10. thought this might be a good thread to post this. Hadn't seen it yet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIOA5sPxb_Y&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DsIOA5sPxb_Y&app=desktop
  11. Only four more chances for new material on the tour. Surprised there hasn't been something...whether it be Wilco or Loose Fur or anything else.
  12. The Head and the Heart/Dawes/Thao and the Get Down Stay Down @ Chicago Theater.
  13. "The follow-up to 1999′s Stereo Type A was self-produced and recorded over the last two years by frontwomen Miho Hatori and Yuka C. Honda. The 10-track effort features guest spots from Wilco’s Nels Cline and Glenn Kotche, comedian Reggie Watts, and Atoms For Peace’s Mauro Refosco, among others. According to a press release, it’s a concept album involving a “love story and a group of ghosts in a hotel.”" http://consequenceofsound.net/2013/12/cibo-matto-announces-first-album-in-15-years-hotel-valentine-streams-mfn/
  14. Found this tweet: Stefanie Castillo ‏@SueBside10h Jeff Tweedy killed it in Seattle! Such a great show! Ended with Lennon's God with Scott and Tad from Young Fresh Fellows!
  15. Mikael joined Margaret on stage in LA on Friday evening at Wiltern: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fcHPGjIIMY&feature=youtu.be https://twitter.com/jimmeshelter/status/409181521656807424/photo/1

  17. Jeff did a great version of Dylan's Forever Young at the Bar Mitzvah from what I heard...
  18. Nope. Not even for part of the show. What a bummer. And after all the hype about it.
  19. Updated with Jeff in the schedule now: 2:00PM JEFF TWEEDY Live from Los Angeles Audience members of 24 Hour will have first access to purchase tickets to an exclusive evening at the Up Comedy Club on January 6th, 2014, featuring improv and sketch comedy from SNL cast members and distinguished Second City alumni, followed by an intimate “living room”-style performance by Jeff Tweedy. Ticket sales will also support Onward Neighborhood House.
  20. The Ruling Class, Millionaire (live versions only), Old Maid immediately come to mind...
  21. Nope. Autumn Defense is playing at Concord Music Hall on January 10th. I've never been to CMH and am curious about it. LH is a great venue - I've seen Wilco and a dozen other great shows there.
  22. Bought tickets for the Autumn Defense Chicago show. Anybody been to the venue yet? I haven't. Curious how it measures up to other small/medium spots in town.
  23. Ken Coomer close second?? Totally agree with your comment. I don't know any band where people (non-drummers anyway) choose their seating/viewing position based on the drummer, but I've seen people go to the balcony so they can take all of Glenn's work in better.
  24. http://letterstosantachicago.com/ Jeff beaming in between (or during) Largo gigs. Lots of interesting video guests. No mention of a JT living room show among the highlighted auction items.
