  1. Is corny to say all of them? I didn't go to all that many but I enjoyed each one quite a bit. I'll rank them anyway 1. Ryan Adams and the Cardinals 3/12/09, Columbia, SC Great show. First time we got to see Ryan. It was an early anniversary gift to ourselves (the 15th) and the first part of our mini-vacation. 2. Wilco - 4/21/09, Asheville, NC My Wife's first Wilco show and my fourth. Great show. 3. Son Volt - 9/12/09(Charlotte, NC), 11/20/09 (Greenville, SC) Both shows were pretty much identical but it looks like Jay has found his groove and more importantly, the right band. Best
  2. Red House Painters - I, II, Songs for a Blue Guitar, and Retrospective I've been a fan of Mark Kozelek for a while but have just started to get into the Red House Painters. I've found two albums in the used bins and two have been purchased with an i-tunes gift card. The Avett Brothers - I and Love and You This album probably gets played the most around the house lately. I have never owned any of their albums before this one but my wife and I like it a whole lot. Wilco - A.M. and Summerteeth (vinyl) It's just nice to finally have these on vinyl.
  3. After the Giants loss, it looks like John Fox and his staff will get to keep their jobs.
  4. So far, the Panthers and Matt Moore are looking impressive against the Giants. Too darn bad the Panthers are playing for nothing.
  5. My twin brother and I got into Vic in the mid-90's and were greatly thankful for the man and his music. This news is so devastating and awful. Hasn't yet sink in - I just found out about and have been unplugged for days from the internet... I'll throw West of Rome on his honor...
  6. Freaking horrible news. I love the man's music and saw him live several times. My brother is a huge fan of Vic's and will totally be devastated by this news. The song Bug from West of Texas is about my small hometown, Walhalla, SC. Apparently he had some ties to Walhalla. Horrible news.
  7. Is it bad to like Owl City just as much as the Postal Service? I dunno if I am there yet but my sister-in-law turned me on to these guys and I like it. I love me so GBV but Murmur > B000(in any format), no contest.
  8. For me, the tough decision is that I am more than likely going to have to hold off on getting anymore medication and doctor visits for a while. Sucks. But I mean it's down to me getting proper health care or being able to pay the bills. Tough call. I honestly believe that's where my wife and I are at. My doctor's asked me not to do that but dude...the heat just broke, my wife is being furloughed twice a month for the indefinite future and has not gotten overtime pay in a year, and on and on and on...I told my doc that unless he's gonna help me pay for the medicine or help me as I try to k
  9. I dunno about anything that's been posted in this thread and plead ignorance to most of the health care debate. That is until recently I was diagnosed with diabetes. The medicine to treat my diabetes alone costs a small fortune and I am insured! And still I am paying out the wazoo to get the meds I need at that. I can only imagine what someone who is uninsured and in my same health has to pay. I am now convinced that the whole health care system is a brutal scam. I, very naively and ignorantly, thought insurance and the health care system could help defer much of the costs. Yet, to
  10. I like it a lot so far. It's definitely better than I thought it was gonna be.
  11. It's business now. It's not just some nerd typing from his parent's basement anymore. People listen to what they say and their voice, like it or not, is very influential. They've definitely tempered their writing style in recent years as a reaction to that. They're not soft: they're a capitalist venture. That's why when people say "fuck pitchfork for yadda-yadda-yadda," it's nearly a laughable posturing at this point. They're as mainstream as Rolling Stone.
  12. I just finished this. I wasn't too terribly impressed. My brother swore that it was hilarious but it's just not my type of humor.
  13. Been a while since I heard this. I got my first copy for Christmas 14 years ago: I can't believe it's been that long. I am now on my third copy. I really want this album on vinyl.
  14. The top 10 looked pretty decent (except that rap album - I don't listen to rap). I would have liked to have seen Wilco get an HR, but I fully did not expect to see them in the Top 50.
  15. I am in the same boat. I used to be a big fan but I just don't care anymore. I honestly couldn't tell you a single song from the album or hum a tune.
  16. I agree. I think it's the weakest point on the album. I think the amount of vulgarity and and such shows an extreme lyrical laziness. Don't get me wrong, I like the album a lot, but the album gives the impression that these guys have a lot of lyrical maturation to do.
  17. This one should honestly be higher on my list: I play a lot and enjoy it from start to finish. It's probably one of my top 3 most listened to albums this year.
  18. Modest Mouse - The Fruit that ate Itself
  19. I think W(TA) is really great. I like it way more than SBS, which is far too pedestrian and dad rock for my comfort. There is something lighter and more fun about W(TA) and I like that. I've always said that wilco is at their best when they have some teeth to their music. SBS was just so weather channel on the 8's. Not that that SBS doesn't have songs, they're just not memorable.
