  1. Whenever I hear this song like this, or that French video a while back, I love it, but somehow I can't listen to the version on the album ...

  3. Pre-tour phone call with JS http://www.thebrag.com/2013/03/14/music-interview-wilco/ Wilco Whole Again By Dijana Kumurdian It’s something intangible that hits you between your heart and your groin,” says Wilco’s bass player John Stirratt. “That’s what makes a song for me. It’s not incredible words, not incredible music – it’s a feeling in that part of your gut that’s right in between your hips or your groin and your heart, you know?” When the co-founder of an American alt-rock giant reveals to you the secret of a good song, you should probably take note. Along with frontman Jeff Tweedy,

  5. That's a good choice. It is one of the most spine-tingling moments I have had at a show seeing Alexandro Escovedo perform that whilst in the middle of the audience. By coincidence, watched the recent BBC4 doc on Mott the Hoople last night. Not particularly a fan, but almost always enjoy these music docs. Meanwhile, some pics here: http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/chi-jeff-tweedy-at-the-vic-20130313,0,3105543.photogallery e.g.
  6. To be fair the doc did show all three of them all together and getting on fine - with DH in a godmother or acting godmother role for the children. And yes, the rift around the Hall of Fame was depicted with the ex-guitar player not amongst them.
  7. That was a good one too - the ongoing bad feeling with the bass player (if I remember correctly) as their Grammy appearance came round, and I was quite sad to see how after all DH had done when nursing him, CS went off and married someone else.
  8. BBC4 Graham Parker doc this Friday evening. Maybe on a YouTube near you soon. http://www.radiotimes.com/episode/vq2xp/graham-parker-dont-ask-me-questions This ongoing series is so watchable I even enjoy the ones where the music is not actually really my thing e.g. The Allman Brothers and Lynard Skynard-heavy Southern Rock Saga a few weeks ago.
  9. My favourite description I ever read of Wilco is "five geography teachers and a tramp" :-)
  10. "Glenn Kotche Interview from Interviews by Sam Kogon Sam Kogon and Glenn Kotche (Wilco) sit down to chat about Kotche's solo work, his work as the drummer of Wilco, his influences, inventions, methods, and his upcoming performance at Crouse Music School at Syracuse University (3/7/13)" http://samkogon.bandcamp.com/track/glenn-kotche-interview
  11. I hope they publish the full set of 50 songs that they learn. it will be funny to see what they have been learning/struggling with even if half of them don't get played. They could check this out too of course: http://viachicago.org/topic/48667-weirdobscurestrange-covers-you-would-like-to-see-wilco-perform/

  17. If so I shall consider moving there. (Thread title is phrased as though states do have official songs of other genres? Do any other states have official rock songs?)
  18. I also really liked The Shadow Line, if that ever got to you. Chris Eccleston in it too for any Who fans. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Shadow_Line_(TV_series)
  19. Spiral series 4. Gritty Parisienne flic drama. Stylish & Good stuff.
  20. It was watchable but lost its way towards the end. It was a semi-replacement for The sadly missed Spooks that was excellent through several series (bar the odd bit of improbable electronics spying wizardry) Did that ever get to the US? Be careful not to get too attached to any character - they usually get bumped off ...
