  1. Beep beep'm beep beep yeah! (singin' it, a la "Drive My Car" by The Beatles)... Jeff Tweedy from the "Portlandia" episode this last week...
  2. Actually it's Thursday 4/3, tonight...Wilco posted about it on the facebook page today... "Look for special guest Jeff Tweedy on tonight’s episode of Portlandia. Independent Film Channel, 10/9 Central." "Fred has an idea for a music documentary. Peter is reunited with his old band, The Bahama Knights, and his ex-wife is lead singer. Trudy and Craig produce a song. Carrie and Fred go home after a concert. Guest starring Maya Rudolph, Tuck & Patti and Jeff Tweedy." http://www.ifc.com/shows/portlandia/episodes/season-4/bahama-knights
  3. I'm sure some folks here have seen this already, but...just in case, & for those who haven't... "Nels Cline’s 5 Essential Effects" http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/Nels_Clines_5_Essential_Effects
  4. Yeah, you got it!!! When I was there I began wondering how many more years he'll be doing them? The Near North Montessori School he does the benefits for only goes up to 8th grade. I looked it up & it appears his youngest, Sam, is about 14. That has to be close to the end of his tenure at that school. I wonder if Jeff will keep doing the benefits after his last child leaves there or not? If not, then this year, or next, could be the last one. That means I might have to try & go again next year (along with Solid Sound) if there is one. I'm just glad I got to go at all, ever- and actuall
  5. Just a basic heads up here- I'll call this a very unconfirmed rumor, but from a good source- I've heard that it's not likely that there are going to be any dates added to the Jeff Tweedy acoustic tour...now that could also mean that they also haven't released all the dates they've booked yet, but... I was going back & forth on facebook with a local tour promoter (who booked Wilco in our area last Summer) & they said they tried to get Tweedy solo this time around to no avail, & when I mentioned that I was hoping for something like a NYC residency, they, in turn, brought up that they
  6. Wow!! A Rickenbacker 4005 Bass!! Proof positive that...1- At least one of each of all the gear of my wildest dreams lives in a loft in Chicago that I like to refer to as the musical Valhalla that is a cross between North America's America's Abbey Road & The Batcave- if Batman & Robin were in a Rock Band rather than being crime fighters...2- The Cosmos has seen fit to blow all the sonic tools needed towards those will use them to the highest good... And the commercial was both hilarious & brought back memories of scouring the local swap sheets for used gear in the late 70's, 80's &a
  7. Interesting indeed... you'd think that there would be a few shows to choose from & that they'd take the best performances/ set lists etc. to choose which get released as Roadcase shows. ... but maybe it's because the other upcoming dates are Fests and/or outdoors & they thought there would be better sound at these gigs? Maybe those are more issues for solo acoustic gigs as there are plenty of outdoor venue Wilco Roadcase shows... I'm betting he does more east coast indoor gigs this Spring/Summer anyhow, so maybe we'll get even more shows!! I REALLY hope that they work things out with w
  8. Thanks for the tip!! That gives me some real options! I have a dear friend who lives south of Toronto, but...it's 4-5 hrs. to Ottawa, & then about 5 hours to Oakville...so, this is a little less likely than I thought (after being pleasantly surprised with where Ottawa was, I did the whole maps search for the potential road trip- not pleased with the Ottawa to Toronto end of things), but not out of the question yet. Knowing it won't sell out, makes it that much more interesting a possibility...hoping there's lots of other dates (NYC, Cleveland, the Roch-Buff-Syr. axis) that will keep me out
  9. Ottawa Blues Fest July 4th performers list is below. I don't have a good feeling about this one. I wish I did, since it's 4 hours away & could easily work in conjunction with the Toronto TURF Fest he's playing (which runs July 4-6...my bet now is that he's playing that one July 5th, though that could also be July 6th) right after. Ottawa Blues Fest July 4 Lineup: Journey, Zedd, Darius Rucker, Bonobo, Jeff Tweedy & Honey Island Swamp Band.My fear here, like with Mountain Jam (where he's also not a headliner) is that he'll play a truncated opening act "Festival" length set (not even head
  10. Pittsburgh (about the same jaunt as Cleveland for me) on a Friday, for free is pretty much a certainty for me!!! I'm hoping they end up selling single day tickets to the Toronto "TURF" Fest (seeing only 3 & 5 day options as of right now)- but there's plenty else to love there too (Jon Langford of The Mekons is appearing as part of The Waco Brothers & with the Burlington Men's Welsh Chorus, Andrew Bird, Neutral Milk Hotel, Violent Femmes, etc.), but $120 for the 3 day is a consideration...depending on where else he plays & how many other dates there are...really hoping for a NYC res
  11. I'm hoping this is the start of some more solo Summer show scheduling for the east coast!! Hoping for a nice little NYC residency, like what went down in L.A. with the four shows that became Roadcase Shows #24-#27...or anything close to where I live would be nice (Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, Toronto, Cleveland)...
  12. Nice little exchange on that thread about this: "Paul Doucette: I've never seen him with a strat before. The Loft Paul, there has been a little bit of a strat awakening over at the Loft. Jeff has a few very very lovely ones that are getting a workout lately. Pictured is the one that started it all." And then later on in the same thread someone else posted this great video of that Strat that started it all...
  13. Not so!! I live near Rochester & have gone to the Jazz Fest many times. I just came here to post about this myself. The folks with Jazzfest passes will be there too, but... you just have to get in line early & pay whatever fee there is for any given show & then that show is filled with Jazzfest Pass folks & folks who are just attending selected shows. Of course many sell out, but... it's absolutely possible to not have an Official Full Fest Pass & get into any given show & I'm betting at least one of these. Nels & Julian are playing on Monday June 23rd at The Little
  14. I'm kind of waiting it out to see if...1) Jeff is playing any other east coast solo acoustic dates (Mt. Jam could be a shorter set, & not a full show)... 2) If The Allman Brothers are going to be any closer (Mt. Jam is a good 4 hrs. one way, 8 hrs. round trip), but... I am planning on seeing The Allman Bros. this tour for sure...and Derek Trucks any chance I get...and if Mt. Jam is the only place Jeff ends up around here, we'll more than likely try to make the trek. If we do go, I sure hope Jeff ends up playing either the same day as ABB or the same as Tedesci-Trucks...
  15. I wondering about that myself...I love Derek Trucks & The Tedesci-Trucks Band being there was the next most interesting thing to me...now that Derek Trucks factor has doubled as The Allman Brothers have been added as a headliner & they are playing both "Idlewild South" & "The Allman Brothers Band" (their first two albums) in their entirety. This ups the ante a-plenty for me. I just hope that Jeff solo & Tedesci-Trucks Bnad get long sets, and/or headliner status. My other hope is that if Bob Weir drops in for anything on Jeff's set, then maybe Jeff would do do one with Ratdog.
  16. I've always wanted to catch ABB & never have...I love Derek Trucks but have never seen him. Jeff Tweedy is playing solo at Mountain Jam and The Tedesci-Trucks Band being there was the next most interesting thing to me...now that Derek Trucks factor has doubled as The Allman Brothers have been added as a headliner & they are playing both "Idlewild South" & "The Allman Brothers Band" (their first two albums) in their entirety. This ups the ante a-plenty for me. I just hope that Jeff solo & Tedesci-Trucks Band get long sets, and/or headliner status. My other hope is that if Bob We
  17. I think it's OK to ask because what's being discussed is something that she chose to share publicly via facebook, & I must agree that I'd love to hear any news...of course hoping for good news & continued progress too!!! So I hope our previous poster is willing to elaborate as well...
  18. Roadcase #31 & #32 were just released. They are both nights of Jeff Tweedy solo acoustic shows at The Vic Theater in Chicago. These are amazing, all-request benefit shows he does each year for his kid's school. Get 'em while they're hot!! Roadcase 031 / February 14, 2014 / Chicago, IL (WILR31) Recorded live at The Vic Theatre on February 14, 2014. Proceeds benefit academic scholarships. Setlist: I'm Always In Love How To Fight Loneliness Should've Been in Love In A Future Age Muzzle Of Bees Be Not So Fearful [bill Fay] Pick Up The Change Wait Up Sky Blue Sky Hesitating Beauty If That's Al
  19. That's exciting!!! So maybe there will be some recording before next year!! And...I'm still hoping for some east coast Tweedy solo gigs (although the two benefit shows in Chicago this last week were so great that it'll hold me for a little while)...and wondering if we might see some kind of holiday season Chicago residency for a few Wilco gigs. I'd try & travel for that!! And, for the record, I don't get any impression that Wilco is going anywhere, anytime soon.
  20. From the first post here: "Hey guys, I understand some of you may be skeptical because I have no real proof to offer, but I have some interesting information I've been wanting to share for a few weeks and this seems like the best place to do so. Last month, my brother and I attended a Nels Cline concert in NYC as part of the New York Alternative Guitar Festival at a small venue in downtown Manhattan. We arrived a little early for the show, and to my surprise, standing at the bar was one Nels Cline. I had met Nels once before at Solid Sound in 2012, so I already knew what a gracious and easy pe
  21. I just PM'd someone else here about when to get in line to get a request in...just wanted to say that if I make it in time, I'll check & see if "California Stars" is on the request list yet & just say I'd be willing to use my request to get it in in for you guys if you aren't able to get it there yourselves. Have a great time...Blessings Of Love & Light & have a great show!!!
  22. He did handle a few requests (more than one IIRC) where he said he couldn't play what was being asked for. I'm betting there were 30 there in line at the time they were taken. Although I have to say that I really, really hope that they start moving these back towards April & Spring & not further away & deeper towards Winter. Also, he's got some much time & so many to get in...I'm sure he got pretty close, but when things ended I was also thinking- great show, but was that 30? I'm just grateful to have been able to make it at all this year. I had to travel yesterday & miss
  23. Heads up more tickets got released & are for sale like nowsville!! Friday the 14th is only coming up with Gold Circle right now, & Saturday the 15th only GA. But the site was a little screwy earlier, so I'd just keep trying!! I got mine & will be renting a car at 8:00 a.m.. No request on Friday for me, but at least I'll make both shows & that'll make Saturdays request even sweeter. http://www.etix.com/ticket/online/homePageSearch.do?method=systemComplexSearch&orderBy=1
  24. So the first Loose Fur album in ages, the first Jeff Tweedy solo album ever (with Spencer on drums no less...), hopefully, continuing Jeff solo dates for this year... & then more likely 2015 for the new Wilco album & Solid Sound for sure. That's a whole lot to look forward to!!
