  1. You win the Understatement of the Decade award.
  2. Woodgrain I just read through the whole thread, and I'm shocked that it hasn't even been mentioned. Or if someone did, I missed their post. Seriously, that is a turd so large it's hard to believe JT himself laid it.
  3. Well, I was a big Barney Miller fan, and remember him as Wojo. Probably cut him more slack than he deserved.
  4. It’s pretty weird, but interesting. Kind of a typical late 80s/early 90s sitcom. Moon was a bit of a cutie!
  5. Since I've been home all weekend, I've been taking a deep dive into what's online about FZ & co. Had never noticed before, but the official FZ website has a bunch of podcasts dating as far back as 2013. I see in this thread that around that time, I mentioned that the '74 tours haven't been well-documented; ironically, some of these podcasts address that, as #10 begins a series that discusses One Size Fits All and other stuff from around that time. I've already got most all these "fan club recordings," but it's nice to see some of them on the official site, available for listening if not
  6. Not the Jay Farrar thread I was expecting.
  7. Cool! I’ve seen a few Zappa Plays Zappa shows, and they were all good. God bless the Zappas. Been home with a sinus infection and skipping around YouTube I came across the Valley Girl video. That sent me down a rabbit hole of interviews with FZ’s kids. I discovered that Dweezil and Moon played siblings in a sitcom with Max Gail and Cindy Williams as their parents. And yes, I watched all the available episodes. Fooking surreal.
  8. This makes me unreasonably happy: Dweezil Zappa Announces Reconciliation With His Siblings & Zappa Family Trust After Years-Long Feudhttps://liveforlivemusic.com/news/zappa-family-trust-dweezil-reconcile/
  9. Another vote for Via Chicago. When I first heard that, it was 1999 and I was hearing all these JT songs for the first time from the previous year's Lounge Ax solo residency, so I could really hear the words. He went from an interesting songwriter in my estimation to an important songwriter.
  10. How about Alabama Getaway>Greatest Story, West LA, and Throwin’>Touch from 10/09? All great.
  11. I'm really happy to read these reports and see that true Deadheads like you guys are enjoying these shows. I felt like I was being a "Debbie Downer" for my earlier comments "Dave Downer?"), but they were sincere. Part of it may be the live experience vs. watching a video or listening to a file...and that's fine. I've seen many Deadheads online rave about shows from the latter half of the Dead's 30-year run, and when I check out the recording, I'm like, "You gotta be fucking kidding." And then I go right back to my comfort zone (mainly pre-hiatus, with a little '77 and some JGB thrown in). Bu
  12. Dear Stormy, Happy International Women’s Day. Respectfully, President Dennison
  13. Unfortunately, Phil hasn't been as good as Bobby since...well, ever! Good point. Back in the day, when Jerry declined so badly, Bobby's singing kinda made up for that. And Jerry's playing kinda made up for the cheese factor Bobby sometimes brought. I'd be able to handle it better if Weir's vocals were gravelly and harsh, but he sounds - and looks - frail. Old age can be very unkind in this business.
  14. Here's what I wrote about Bobby not even five years ago, when he opened the AmericanaramA tour: "Bob Weir was great. The man can still command a stage, even with just an acoustic guitar. Very surprised by how hard he pushed himself vocally, and it was crystal clear." He was belting out blues standards like Howlin' Wolf, and could still hit the high notes on his own songs. Now I feel actual physical discomfort watching/listening to him sing. The decline over the last five years is heartbreaking. I was always a Jerry guy, but I like ol' Bob, too, so it's hard to see. I hope he and Phil are e

  16. Just found this post from last November from Paste. I’d never seen this ‘96 Wilco footage before. Superb. https://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2017/11/watch-wilco-play-a-hometown-show-on-the-being-ther.html
  17. I’m with you on this except - and this is a big exception - I would not discount Thirty Seconds Over Winterland. Great album of tunes which were largely mediocre in the studio.
  18. Anyone with a library card wanting to hear the Halloween ‘77 release for free, you can download it using the Hoopla app. Great stuff. https://www.hoopladigital.com/my/hoopla
  19. For any of you who haven't gotten into live Airplane from their early days, I recommend the run of shows from 11/25-11/27/66 at the Fillmore. They're partially documented on Fillmore Auditorium: We Have Ignition, though I sometimes think I prefer the recordings I got of those shows way before that release. Their covers of Fat Angel & Other Side of This Life are incredible, and their early readings of classics like Plastic Fantastic Lover, White Rabbit, and 3/5 Miles in 10 Seconds (complete with jet engine sound effects) just rock. Listen to these recordings and then contemplate what the
  20. The Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Act (aka, the Federal Assault Weapons ban) ran from 1994-2004. So it expired during the Bush era. The mass shootings we have had since then are off the chain That's where the solution needs to begin. It won't end all mass shootings, but getting those guns off the streets and out of the hands of most civilians can at least stem the tide of blood.
  21. The black-throated wind keeps on pouring in. And it speaks of a life that passes like dew.
  22. Yeah, I found out late today. He was only 70. At least he died peacefully in his sleep, which ain’t a bad way to go.
