My guess would be they'll play a medley of Roxanne, Every Breath You Take, and some shitty Sting solo song that the others will be forced to learn for the show.

Good one!

About 55. My wife is bummed it's this cold here.
-
I don't worry about it too much, because most of the music I really love will never be used for a commercial. Lou Reed's Heroin, The Grateful Dead's Keep Your Day Job and Frank Zappa's Broken Hearts Are For Assholes just aren't good vehicles for promoting a product.

Well, they may feature fantastic guitar solos, but I sure as hell don't remember them. I won't blame Prince for that, though...
-
Easy. All they ever played on the radio was Little Red Corvette, Purple Rain, When Doves Cry and Raspberry Beret. If any of those songs featured guitar solos, they weren't memorable (to me anyway). I wish he played a lot more, and second the motion about All Along The Watchtower. However, I fear he may be more interested in Watchtower as a publication than a song.

When it comes to politics I suspect that Al is just as qualified, if not more so, than Jesse "The Body" Ventura.

For some reason, I'm not a fan either. You'd think I'd love him, big as I am on quirky songwriters like Warren Zevon who put some real humor in their music. But I picked up the 4-disc retrospective at the library and just couldn't get through it at all. Didn't like the arrangements or his voice. "Short People" was funny, though.

That's awesome. Too bad he's not producing the new Wilco album! -
Maybe Impossible Germany will be the new Spiders, and we'll have a 19-page thread about it after it comes out.

I was so disappointed in the final versions of the songs on both YHF and AGIB that I, too, have resisted the temptation. I did hear Walken live when I saw them last year, and I've heard one crappy-sounding bootleg of On and On. I'm hoping that if these songs are all basically new to me, I will like the record and then seek out even better live versions. In fact, I will seek out live versions eventually anyway, even if Jim O'Rourke ruins the record.

Yeah, you're not even as old as me, man. So of course I can say you're old.
-
Heh heh. You've only got a couple years on me, Lou. I was just bustin' you and A-man. Then again, they say if you can remember the 60s, you must not have been there!
-
You guys are ooooooold.

If that was their real lead singer on SNL, I think I'll take a pass. Thanks.

Yeah! Florida! Come back here again, boys! -
I have seen them discussed quite a bit on here, so I sat down to watch that intentionally. It was my first exposure to their music and, sadly, it will probably be the last.
-
I knew you had to have it, Lou. If I have any albums you don't have, I'd be shocked.

Wow, I can't believe two other people on this board have Woody Allen's standup on vinyl. What are odds of that?? Oral contraception: "Last week I asked a girl to go to bed with me, and she said, No.

Oftentimes, when I hear a live version that is faster, it sounds rushed to me. I also prefer that things be kept close to their original tempos. If you're going to change something, rework the arrangement somehow, don't just speed everything up. That being said, I've never noticed Wilco being an offender with this issue. I've heard much worse.
