Here's some pix I took last week on my lunch hour using a digital camera shooting through the viewfinder of an old Kodak Brownie TLR:

I'm looking forward to this (publication date April/May 2009): "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies features the original text of Jane Austen's beloved novel with all-new scenes of bone-crunching zombie action. As our story opens, a mysterious plague has fallen upon the quiet English village of Meryton

It's the Super Bowl, though. I bet he's wearing a cup.

R.I.P., John Updike
moxiebean replied to Three dollars and 63 cents's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Like most folks around here I haven't kept up with his literary output (my bookshelves are lined with scores of Updike books that I know I'll never read), mostly because reading his work demands so much attention and I'm a lazy reader. That said, the Rabbit books are something everyone should read. -

Pink Houses by John Mellencamp
moxiebean replied to Head in a Guillotine's topic in Someone Else's Song
I've always thought the b&w videos for those scarecrow-era songs were pretty great - a lot better than the songs. -
I prefer the term "updated Haircut 100 for the new millennium"

Albums that changed your life - Article on CNN.com
moxiebean replied to John Smith's topic in Someone Else's Song
These two albums changed how I listened to music (Ramones) and how I looked at life (Clash): -
As a Baltimore-area kid in the 1970's I used to love the commercials for Mr Ray's Hair Weave Center.

Although I'm not a big soda drinker I am a big moxie fan (see: username). It's not available in the Southeast so my moxie consumption is limited to when I visit my father in Maine.

What's some of your favorite road trips you have been on?
moxiebean replied to remphish1's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Late Dec. - Jan. 1987: Baltimore to Charleston WV (picked up roommate), to northern Georgia to visit Howard Finster, to Atlanta for new year's eve (saw Fetchin' Bones & HR Band), to New Orleans (great food & jazz, good weather), up the Mississippi to Memphis (Graceland, or course), across to Lynchburg (Jack Daniels Distillery), and back to Charleston/Baltimore. Took lots of pictures (especially H. Finster & New Orleans cemeteries), visited a bunch of civil war battlefields, and had a great time. Can't believe that was over 20 years ago... -
Days of Wine and Roses is an album everyone should hear - side one is just loud and messy and glorious. "Halloween" might be my vote for best song ever, along with "Gimme Shelter". Also "God Only Knows" is about as perfect as a song can be.

Also, due to lack of oversight it could be argued that Congress had a role in the failure of the financial sector - I can see why they wouldn't want to throw stones at the banking industry when they're partly to blame.

I think it's that guy in the shorts from Reno 911.
