  1. Nice. I feel the same. The boys certainly look dapper in that photo. Everybody's gazing into the middle distance, looking suave, while Mikael (also looking suave) gazes spot on. A handsome band who would look very nice holding shiny gold Grammys, but oh well. Next album.
  2. That's exactly why I want to hear him deliver his speech to the world at large!
  3. worldrecordplayer, I'd love to hear what your friends thought! I hope they had a grand time! Dave, thanks so much for posting the setlist! Hi Chris! Yep, that was one of my best-ever last-minute decisions. So much fun, such a wonderful mood to the entire show. What an ending, huh? I'm with you! I hope someone taped.
  4. It's a real shame. I was never particularly a fan, but she was talented, no question there. It's too bad that money and fame are so thin in the end, and can't make a person happy. I'm sorry her demons, whatever they were, seem to have gotten to her. 48 is so young for a life to be over. Rest in peace, Whitney.
  5. Go get that Grammy, boys! You deserve it. Best of luck! Can't wait to hear Jeff's acceptance speech.
  6. From the first notes of the surprising opener, "Reservations", through the final notes of the rollicking, quartet-of-half-naked, cowbell-dancing-men of Hoodoo Voodoo, this show was a pure joy. Rock & Roll will never die, not as long as it's done like this. Glorious. I am bleary with happy exhaustion after a loooong drive each way and an intense, exhilarating concert inbetween, so I will leave it to others in a more coherent frame of mind to describe this thing in proper English, which I cannot at the moment do. I seek sleep, doubtless to be filled with dream-memories which will have me
  7. Thank you for this. Great review, and I agree, the comments after it were priceless!!!
  8. My son Brennan had hoped to record this night but the promoter, Goldenvoice, wasn't allowing tapers. So unless someone managed a stealth recording, this one may exist only in our memories. A real shame, if so. It was a phenomenal show & I'd love to hear it again.
  9. Nice review. The version of Spiders done acoustically isn't a new version, though, it's the original version. Spiders (acoustic) dull?? Blasphemy!! Looks like a great, energetic setlist!
  10. What a sweet present! It looks sharp. Like yours too, Sweet Melinda..."Bob Dylan, yours to discover!" I think there have been some other Wilco-esque license plates mentioned here in the past. I know I'd wave if I passed a car bearing that plate. I wonder if you'll find yourself waving, or being waved at by, complete strangers who happen to be Wilco fans?
  11. Sad...always awful when someone yields to the permanent "solution" of suicide, and lets whatever felt so hopeless win out. Who knows what else his life, and his talent, might have held. Rest in peace.
  12. Damn that was nice. What a heartbreaker of a song.
  13. You paint a great picture, Paul. I'm glad Jeff got his picture of everyone flipping the bird. I'm still wondering if anyone captured that at the Wiltern.
  14. Standing or sitting, I do love me some Mountain Goats.
  15. When's the big day, Sarah? It sounds like everything is coming together beautifully for you...personal and warm and intimate. You are doing an amazing job keeping costs under control!
  16. Yeah, this really takes me back. I can remember who I was and what I was doing at that time. I may have to make this into a series...I have several from 2002.
  17. I really appreciate it too, Paul. You fill in all the blank spots. Even when I'm there I never remember all the details or song order clearly. What do you get when you add in the San Diego setlist? There wasn't a lot of overlap even across all 4 nights! Such a treat to get to hear so many different songs. *sigh* Come back soon, Wilco. Good times.
  18. ......you get to revisit fond memories like this, dated 3-12-02. I miss the innocence I've known! Greetings friends, It's been a long haul, but we're now only 6 or so weeks away from the release of "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" on April 23. First of all we want to thank everyone for keeping the faith for the better part of a year while we sorted things out. It was a tough year on so many levels; but, we made it and we've got a lot to be thankful for. Last night was essentially the beginning of the "official" tour in support of "YHF" and as you can see from the dates on the site, Wilco are n
  19. I remembered that a friend had gotten a setlist and asked her to send me a photo. The photo confirms Paul's setlist (as if we ever doubted!). The only deviation was that they dropped out Hate It Here, probably because they ran out of time. Brennan posted over on etree to let the taper know his tracks were out of order. Here's that setlist:
  20. I wish Mick and Keith would take over our defunct grocery store a few blocks south. This area could use some excitement. "You fishstick-selling fuck!"
  21. I was so pumped up after all the fun we had Friday night that I couldn't wind down once we got home. I sat and poked around on the computer for a bit, and was so surprised when I glanced out the window and it was already light out! I was pretty thoroughly Wilcofied.
  22. PS - Did I mention that Wilco absolutely made my birthday by playing the acoustic version of Spiders? This is the song that gave me my username here, and it was so perfect it made my eyes tear up a bit.
