  1. Such a great job, Sarah! Beautiful singing, great guitar playing! I remember not so very long ago when you first began with lessons....you've made impressive progress!
  2. TIM!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
  3. Matt, get in line behind me for the punching-Anton-fest. I only watched that movie because I was stuck on a long plane ride & there wasn't much else among the offerings. I thought it wasn't the worst thing I'd ever seen, but it wasn't all that riveting either.
  4. Wow, that looks incredible! Thanks for the recommendation, I'm going to read that. I also have to try "The Corrections" again.....I read a little of that years ago when it was new, when my local library was putting a chapter at a time online as a library promotion. Then they moved on to a new book and everybody on earth was checking out "The Corrections" so I never managed to lay my hands on it. Time to revisit that one!
  5. So, in your world, Marley lives on forever! Niiice. Though a really good cry can be therapeutic.
  6. I'm such a sucker for books about life with dogs....."Marley & Me", "A Good Dog", etc. But I always wind up crying my eyes out and getting a headache when the dog dies!
  7. Sorry, folks, but today I'm unceremoniously closing threads containing too high a percetage of just plain mean. Please, those of you who want to play pleasantly, let's take it to a fresh new thread. Thanks.
  8. You forgot Dick Martin! Sad week indeed. RIP, Harvey....treat God & the angels to all your briliiance!
  9. That sounds like a great, involving read, Dunja! I shall look into it!
  10. How did I miss this? Thanks, Maudie!
  11. Wait, there's an entire book about it?
  12. Are you gals also intrigued by the Great Boston Molasses Flood of 1919?
  13. I think so. I think the more important question might be, "Will it burn up on re-entry?"
  14. Sorry, I couldn't resist. http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/space/05/27/s...t.ap/index.html
  15. It doesn't work so great for those of us with leg problems, either, or those with other health problems.
  16. The brilliant Dick Martin, best known from Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In, has passed on to the great laugh-in in the sky. Dick, my deepest gratitude for all the laughs that helped me survive those awful late-60's years and beyond! May you find much to laugh at in heaven. Rest in peace. Sock it to me.
  17. This back and forth sneering argument has gone far enough. I think the point being made.....that it's a good idea to consider the feelings of other concert-goers, in one's own behavior at a concert....is something we can all easily agree on. This isn't rocket surgery, folks. It's the old Golden Rule. Consider how you would feel, and behave accordingly. There's room for all types in the world, but regardless, and always, mean people suck. Don't be one. And let's drop this ridiculous and childish argument here and now. Otherwise, the thread will be closed, etc. Isn't there enough nastiness in
  18. Ah....now I understand the comments thanking Ken for his efforts....I thought those were in recognition of his usual job-well-done on a live broadcast. Again, must read entire thread. Hi Ken! Thank you for your efforts and for the roadcase! You rock. Thank you Wilco.
  19. It never happened??!! See what happens when you don't take the time to read all 13 pages? But hey, all the more reason we need "another" live broadcast! . I'll bring snacks and lampshades for everybody, and we'll party like it's 1908 or something. We can call it the "Concert for kidsmoke's dad". I'll make him tune in and everything. Only we won't ask him to dance, because as my sister once confided, "Dad dances like he's riding a horse." Y'all keep that last bit to yourselves. He may not be able to dance, but he's the sweetest guy in the world.
  20. I am unhappy that I missed this, but as my dad is freshly home from the hospital, I had other things on my mind. He's fine, thanks, but gave us all a good scare with internal bleeding! A medication problem, apparently. I think another live broadcast would be a great way to celebrate my papa's recovery, right Wilco?
  21. I'm so glad her family was able to get a sense of how many lives she touched. I'm comforted that we were able to bring comfort to them! Thanks, Maudie.
  22. Thanks so much, Geoff! I can't wait to hear it!
  23. My kids just took me to see Iron Man....not my typical sort of movie, but we all had a great time! Bjorn's right, Downey was very good in it. And while we're discussing Iron, The Iron Giant is one of my very favorite movies as well. Just beautiful.
