I like what you've said, lost highway. Makes a lot of sense from my own life experiences.

Wow, now Donald is insulting the disabled? This fool has gone completely off the rails.

Yes, I suppose you're right. Whom.

What's the Stupidest Thing You Ever Did as a Kid?
kidsmoke replied to kidsmoke's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I've always thought it's kind of a wonder that any of us make it to adulthood. You know how kids grow up, and with the safety of years having passed, begin to confess some of the shit they did that you never knew about? My daughter, now coming up on age 20, recently told me that when she was about 8, she had heard about people burning leaves, and she wanted to try it. But she didn't want me to see, so she made a big pile in the narrow (20"?) space between our garage's side wall and our fence. Our wooden fence, I should add. She had some leaves in the pile that were kind of wet so she was -
Omigawd, I could fill pages, but probably my worst misadventure was as a child of about 7 or 8, with my sister a year younger. Walking to the library one day (because in the early 60's, kids walked everywhere) we stopped to admire the view from a bridge that crossed the freeway there. In that time there weren't the massive fences that there are now, and we got what we thought was a fun idea. We began picking up trash near us, and chucking it over the rail at the cars below, hoping to score a hit on a passing car. It was just little stuff...bits of paper, soda can pull-tabs, and I remember an e

Interesting...I didn't even think about my choice of that word, but it does seem to fit his case. Yes, "supporters" would be the more traditional term for those backing a serious candidate. Trump seems to be taking part in his own little reality show, oriented toward a tv audience.

With all due respect, folks, this thread really isn't intended as a serious political thread, just a bemused look at how far The Donald can apparently go without turning away his fan base. It really has, and does, amaze(d) me that he can say the things he says, as a genuine (?) candidate. Anyway, please keep your deeper political thoughts over in the political thread...they are an interesting debate in themselves and deserve to be read in a more serious context. Thanks.

Ooh, good choice. It's hard to think of anyone who really has "mass appeal" as a personality these days, I suppose because we are pretty splintered off as a society. No one figure really emerges.

John, I think you're right, Reagan is still a god to so many people. I know better...he was such an asshole even back when he was our governor (CA). Nothing improved when he reached the national level, but his good-ol-boy schtick sure charmed (and fooled) a lot of people. He was a cold, mean man and we as a nation are still suffering under policies he brought into being. But this is all just my opinion, and too serious for the topic at hand, so I'll leave off that subject. However, I did specify that the insultee should be someone living...please reassure me that (while Elvis is well and wor

Listening day by day as the Donald Trump Insult Candidacy rolls on, I found myself wondering today at so many peoples' apparent acceptance of this behavior in a serious presidential aspirant. I began to think, "Just WHO would he have to insult, at this point in history, to have most folks turn against him? I don't mean this as a serious political inquiry, and certainly have no interest in inflaming the tempers of any among us who support him. Bear that in mind as you attempt an answer. The Donald seems to be a teflon-coated candidate. Can you think of someone (living, please) that Donald c

I'm an ocean away, but my heart aches for France and her citizens. I've spent some of the best days of my life in this glorious city and as prepared and braced as I know the French were, still, I can't even imagine how surreal and devastating today must feel to them. I saw that Danny Miller, Jeff's brother-in-law, had posted a quote from Jeff when Wilco played Le Bataclan (the concert hall that was attacked today) back in May, 2007. From Danny's facebook post: “'This is our new favorite place to play,' Jeff Tweedy remarked near the end of Wilco’s show at Le Bataclan in Paris, quickly adding

Hey Robby, when use imgur.com, are you selecting the "Direct Link" option or the "BB Code (Forums)" option? I've had trouble with the BB Code one before & only use the direct link now. You might try & see whether that makes a difference.

No, you need more m&m's to balance that equation.

Those are great! Now I'm in the mood to watch something full-length. I'm sure there'll be some good stuff on the telly tonight. Everybody try to remember: it's not "Candy left over from Halloween" quite yet. But....these mini Take 5 bars are totally shrieking my name!

How's it looking at your house? We have these guys ready to terrify small children:

I need to, as well. I hope you find it as fascinating and eye-opening as I did. I look at our current interactions with that part of the world in a very different way since reading "Mirage".

Sounds like you ought to start one.

Sounds good! Thanks!

I'll have to look into her books!

Austen always has a soothing effect on me...once you're well into a book, it's as if you've been transported back to her time, isn't it? The humor is quite witty but you are allowed to pick it up on your own...she, as an author, doesn't beat you over the head with a point she's trying to make. I love reading Austen. Let us know how this is! Looks like good history. I'm unfamiliar with this author. What's the book about? Good?

Side 2 begins with Taste the Ceiling.

If I could have only one, I'd go with the white vinyl because it's cool! I believe the two are identical other than color. Hang on, I'm going to take a look. Ok, I've just double-checked. All is identical between the 2 vinyl versions, other than the vinyl color. With the Kung Fu package (black vinyl) I also got yet a 3rd progression of the cat picture, on heavy frameable card stock. Fascinating how I keep discovering new creatures in these 3 pictures! (Two of which are the vinyl sleeve.)

I went with the CD-LP-T-shirt & print...just seemed like the best deal overall. It's all beautiful!
