Stay safe and warm all of you who're affected. Try not to go stir crazy being stuck indoors. -
Welcome back, chanman. I love your post and agree. Real power to this album, such understated beauty that keeps unfolding with time and repeated listens.

I really enjoyed reading this. 40 days of steady kindness without slipping into the occasional bit of snarky commentary? I don't know if I could do it, but I'd admire the hell out of anyone who gave it a sincere try. I nominate Raspberry Jam as our VC entrant. Let us know (nicely!) how it goes, RJ!

I hope to be there, Drew! That sounds pretty awesome! Enjoy the process, despite the madness!

Baby #2 is so fun...you're much more relaxed, and it's wonderful watching the sibling relationship develop! Congratulations! Take good care of the wife...make her put her feet up more often, and make her a nice cup of herbal tea or something.

Baby number which, remphish? Smells like flowers, You have my deepest support as you face this. I've been there. Just keep taking it one day at a time, that's the only advice I have. xo

Let us know if it's any good.

You're ambitious! Good luck with all of it, and please come do my house next! Especially the pool.

As we head into this fresh new year (with all our old baggage!) what are you hoping for? I don't have any grandiose plans like my sister's big trip to Italy (jealous, I admit it ) but I do have plans for some upgrades to life: a new car for me and a new mattress because the old one sags just enough to make my back ache a little. And when I say new car, I mean a used car that is new to me. I have zero interest in taking on an auto loan! Beyond that, I hope to see a bunch of you at Solid Sound for the best festival out there & the best group of friends to enjoy it with. Just hoping for e

What is your New Years Eve Activity ?

Boss Tweedy, we've all been there and we can sympathize more than you imagine. I lost my dad in 2012, exactly on my 30th wedding anniversary. What an odd thing it feels now, to celebrate that day...and yet Dad would want me to, because life does go on. I wish you and yours a beautiful 2015, a year that restores your faith in every way, and I wish that to every member of VC. Beltmann, it's hard to believe it's been 9 years since you lost your beloved brother. It seems both much longer ago, and yet also like it was just yesterday. I know you know what I mean. The same love and support is still -
Wishing all of us a beautiful and peaceful and prosperous and exciting 2015!

That new song that Pat worked with him on sounded pretty great!

I'm a big fan of Patrick Park, and this year's album is wonderful all the way through. Have a listen to some of the album here: http://www.patrickpark.net/listen And watch this video, which I love, for the song from "Love Like Swords" that first entranced me. So simply gorgeous. And the video is just pure fun. I don't know how he managed to keep a straight face while all that background commotion was going on! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Miwc9Ir51Lk Great thread idea, PopTodd. So many great albums get overlooked.

She's right...come toward the light!

Two more for the reading list...no, 3, because that interview sold me on reading the new Jerry Lee Lewis book. Thanks! I've only read "The Goldfinch" by Donna Tartt, but yes, her writing is exquisite.

So what are we having? I'm in charge of the enormous turkey this year....21 lbs, to be stuffed only directly beneath the skin, which creates a beautiful effect when sliced, and also keeps the fragile breast meat from ever drying out. I'll make a side casserole of the extra stuffing, which is full of wonderful things, and I'll make gravy once the turkey is roasted. Beyond that, we're bringing a "Chocolate Turtle Pie" (No turtles were harmed in the making of this pie) and I hope my sons are coming up with some mashed potatoes and veggies and pumpkin pie. Counting my blessings too, of which I h

...well, you know the line, although I'm not sure Sgt. Pepper had anything to do with it. Twenty years ago today, Wilco played their very first show. Their live debut was on November 17, 1994 to a capacity crowd at Cicero's Basement Bar in St. Louis, Missouri. That night they called themselves "Black Shampoo", but thankfully this soon was replaced by the name Wilco. This seems like a good day to pause and reflect a little on all the wonderful music and shows and friends and magical moments that have been a part of their long wild ride, and ours as fans. I want to say to Jeff and company,

I'm sorry. This has been a rotten week for me. I wish us both a better tomorrow!
