  2. i've seen this one, too. i liked it a lot and found myself suprisingly moved at the end of the run. the direction is well executed.
  3. as i left work last night, i tried to cue up the "if there is something" on the ipod only to discover IT ISN'T ON THERE!! HOW DO THESE THINGS HAPPEN?! shocking. and disappointing. wait a minute...i have it on a CD in the car...that aforementioned BBC session. YES, MA'AM!

  6. "my breath is insiiiiide you..." hey wheelco: LOVE "if there is something" especially these bits: I would do anything for you I would climb mountains I would swim all the oceans blue I would walk a thousand miles Reveal my secrets More than enough for me to share I would put roses round our door Sit in the garden Growing potatoes by the score Shake your hair girl with your ponytail Takes me right back (when you were young) Throw your precious gifts into the air Watch them fall down (when you were young) Lift up your feet and put them on the ground You used to walk upon (when you were
  7. with the aid of my anonymous ticket-purchasing wing(wo)man--i got tickets for all three nights at the fillmore in december. two bonus rad things about this show: west coast!! no time zone crossing shenanigans! AND it's a holiday weekend at work. WOOOOO-HOOOOOOO!!! *now constructing foam novelty flying-v guitar to bring to show...*
  8. the intro is very long, but it sets up A. Man and the alpaca quite nicely. "run thru" is blistering! "steam engine" takes my breath away. everytime.
  9. my favorite is "Siren" from "end of the line" to "just another high" this is terrific stuff. and i will attest to the casbah-rockin-ess of the bbc sessions pneyu found. AWESOME. to kick off your roxy-spree, you may want to check out the dvd of their show at the Apollo from a few years ago. it will give you a good overview. this show (tour!) was mind-blowing. (unintentional nod to "every dreamhome a heartache" there... ) i know these posters are holding back. you will find some rampant roxy-love on this board.
  10. i really enjoyed lavender diamond's set. the front woman was very chatty, and very funny. the crowd around me found this awful, but it was endearing. also, she had on a rockin' vintage bias cut satin gown. werd.
  11. i would consider missing work just to be the one to wear the skyflynn mask. and jumpsuit.
  12. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BJORN!! sorry we're late. Cthulu is a little cheesed that he missed the keg. and the whiskey. HOPE YOU HAD A FAB NIGHT! also, when your reporters are giving you cheek, invoke this man: RESPECT!

  14. i also saw a screening of the film. SWEET JESUS!! AMAZING!! fantastic performances. jaw droppingly beautiful. gorgeous, well conceived and directed. the entire show i was like this: i bought the dvd afterward and have been playing it non-stop. did you notice that some of the songs on the DVD aren't in the film? am i high? i keep playing bits of it for my co-workers. everyone gets sucked in right away. also: have has "wordless chorus" in my head since monday.
  15. HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISS U!! "who will save your tiny village?!" lucille has offered to share her pool food with you! thanks for all the line standing-menu-strategizing-late-night-thai-food-peak-musical-experience sharing!
  16. peel this shows sounds fucking awesome!! i saw them about a week ago, they were FANTASTIC! the crowd just eats out of their collective palm. the crane 1->2->Sons and Daughters run left me moved. would have loved to see jenny rockin the accordian ninja style!
  17. donna, no fair keeping all the wax lips! perhaps you could have a post halloween party, dress your kids as lint rollers, and let the web removal begin! (if you make the voxtrot show tonight, i'llknow what that stuff is all over your family. )
  18. sweet jesus! and on a weekend, no less. THANKS FOR THE GOOD WORD, SOLACE!!
  19. tennessee waltz done by just about anyone --star witness by neko case --transatlanticism by death cab for cutie --crane wife 1 & 2 on the new decemberists album --long black veil by johnny cash --one more dollar by gillian welch --annabelle lee by gillian welch.--this is a crusher to be sure.
