  1. If you can't take a joke, please leave this thread now . This is a webcomic I made, that I would like to share with the VC community. It's random, raunchy, and crude, but I made it, and my friends seem to get a kick out of it: Bacon Fresh Profile on Webcomic List Take a look, lemme know what you think. If you're kind, pimp the link around, and try to increase my ranking the webcomic list (an entirely useless metric, but it makes me feel better).
  2. Nice job. I'll have to save this before the forum crashes again.
  3. 91.7% "World Class Musical Abilities" Ego boost?
  4. I like them both. However, I would have to say that Detholz > Califone, especially live. The Detholz are usually pretty incredible live. They're one of the tightest bands I've ever seen.
  5. I was just listening to this in the car today. It sounds like the riff changes subtley every time he plays it. The last notes of the riff sound different each time. Am I going crazy, or is this the case?
  6. This is going to be tons of fun. There's going to be more than one VC member playing (including me). If you're in Chicago, come out and see us!
  7. This was the first time I've ever seen Jay Bennett play live, period (never got to see him play with Wilco). Jay did a great job. He played mostly newer songs that I didn't recognize, but they sounded pretty good. During his solo set, he played "Junior," which is probably my favorite Bennett song, and "quite possibly the stupidest thing I've ever written." Jay took on a frontman/rhythm guitar player role. He only busted out the soloing once, which was a damn shame. Jay's soloing is even better in person than it is in bootlegs. It's much better than jazzy guitar masturbation, but I'm not going
  8. I'd love to see this one too.
  9. If I had Wilco on a leash, I'd make them play me a private show every night in my bar of choice.
  10. Rhett Miller - Terrible Vision Could someone please post the chords to this song? I've scoured the message boards/chord sites with no luck. There seems to be a lot of talented tabbers here, I would sure appreciate the help! It sounds to me like it's standard tuning, capo 1. It sounds like it starts out on a D. That's about all I have so far . Here's a link to the song: http://goluphi.googlepages.com/12TerribleVision.mp3
  11. Very nice. You are a godsend.
  12. Train - I'd love to hear Tweedy sing this song now. Cold Shoulder - An underappreciated song. The bass line is siiiick. This one is incredible. Screen Door New Madrid Acuff Rose Gun In no particular order.
  13. Excellent, now I know all your secrets.

    Golden Smog

I had a great time at this show last night. It was a pleasant surprise to see Tweedy play at the show. And even though I'm not familiar with any Golden Smog songs (other than Tweedy's), I thought it was a fantastic show. It was hella-fun having a few drinks for JHC's birthday. I'm definitely glad I decided to come out. As a side note: did anyone manage to get any pictures of the show? I'd love to see pictures if anyone has them!
  15. Probably. I've seen the Autumn Defense about four times in the past couple years.
  16. Saw him play at the Metro last night. I had never heard him before. I definitely enjoyed the song "Chinese Translation," but the rest was foreign to me. I had a good time anyway, but I don't think I'm giong to become an M. Ward devotee any time soon.

  18. Am I the only one that thinks of the Canyonero (from the Simpsons) when they hear this song? Shit, maybe I watched too much TV in high school... My favorite new Autumn Defense songs haven't shown up in recorded form. Yet. I like Pat's songs a lot. John has some really good ones, but there's just something about Pat's voice that just reaches in and grabs my heartstrings.
  19. I can't believe no one has mentioned Echoes by Pink Floyd yet. It is incredible, probably their best song.
  20. I agree with these. Although the The Detholz! aren't exactly new, they have, quite possibly, the most captivating live show of any band I've seen. The lead singer is like some sort of preacher/David Bowie hybrid on speed, the keyboardist is a dancing madman, and the lead guitarist is incredible. They're all great musicians. Their songs sound fantastic live. They will literally melt your face off. Highly reccomended.
