  1. Yeah, I saw that. It's a relatively new relationship, I think.
  2. Re: the new guitars, the company is called Fano (not Faro...my mistake, which I've corrected above). Their Web site is www.fanoguitars.com, for all the guitar geeks out there. I'm almost certain Jeff uses a JM6 model on the song Whole Love, exactly like the one pictured on the Fano site. I think the new black one might be a PX6. That shape looks like the one Jeff brought out last night. (Edit: Upon further review, the guitar that Jeff uses on Whole Love is an actual Fender Jaguar. It does look almost exactly like the JM6 on the Fano site, though.) And I just remembered that I heard from so
  3. To answer at least a couple of questions, Jeff was clean shaven tonight--I trust that will change as the tour wears on--and he wore his glasses throughout the show. Mike still appears to have his 'stache, but I couldn't see Glenn well enough to see if he had any growth. Everyone else looks the same. As for the lighting design, they didn't have the full-length "little ghosts," probably because the stage wasn't tall enough. They had the little stands with the ghosts on at least one side of the stage, but I wasn't sure what function they really served. One difference, and again I'm not sure i
  4. First off, special to H. Stone: The rainbow SG is back! Indeed it reappeared for I'm The Man Who Loves You to close out the first encore (and might've also been used on Hoodoo Voodoo if they had played it to close the show as planned on the printed setlist). Instead, we were sent off into the muggy Arkansas night with "just" Red-Eyed>I Got You>Outtasite--and it was that closing trio on which Jeff and Nels debuted new guitars that I don't think have been used live with Wilco before. I know Jeff's was a black electric Fano (a new company he's been working with that I believe builds cus
  5. They did "Only A Rose" tonight in Dallas as well, with just Nick and Geraint, as the first song of the encore. They hadn't done it either of the previous two nights, but perhaps because it was the last night of the tour, they added it. And I'm so glad they did. Saw Geraint open for Nick a couple of years back at the Bell House in Brooklyn and he was sublime that evening as well. Have to make a mental note to pick up one of his records. Perhaps a Welsh duet one day, eh Andrew? Really, Nick's whole band is great. Love hearing Johnny Scott's elegant playing on guitar and seeing Bobby Irwin an
  6. Meant to add that I read somewhere that Nick's longtime keyboard player, Geraint Watkins (who is great), has been called the Welsh Jerry Lee Lewis. Funny, though, I thought that moniker already belonged to a denizen of these parts...ahem Mr. Dowdall.
  7. In case you wanted them, here are the complete setlists (as played) for the show last night: Autumn Defense (duo): The Sun In California Everyday Simple Explanation Don't Know The Answer Spend Your Life The Swallows of London Town Sentimental Lady [bob Welch] It's Just That Simple Nick Lowe Band: Stoplight Roses (Nick solo acoustic) Heart (Nick solo acoustic) What A Lack Of Love Has Done Ragin' Eyes Lately I've Let Things Slide Has She Got A Friend? 8. Here's a review of the Tucson show from the LA Times. I have to say that I'm with Lou on this one. I'd go if somebody gave me a free ticket, but otherwise the only place I would even consider buying a ticket is for a SoCal show (where there might be something cool about hearing those songs in that setting). But yeah, it sounds like Brian Wilson is pretty detached and, frankly, it's just kind of sad to me to see him on stage these days. He barely plays anything and seems confused at times. From that review, it sounds like they do have quite the supporting cast of musicians playing with them a
  9. Ah, thanks for the info. A little weird they haven't put that on the Wilcoworld shows page... Purling Hiss played at Solid Sound 2, I think, though I missed their set. From the little I know of them, they seem to be a punkish indie rock band with an emphasis on guitar solos. Perhaps White Denimesque, with maybe a little bit of a harder sound?
  10. I don't think a support act has been announced yet for the May run, but Kelly Hogan just posted on her Facebook status that she'll be opening the July 3 show in Davenport. Yay!
  11. Wow, that's a lot of typos, etc., for a one-sentence post! Just saying. Good luck with your search for a ticket...

  13. Here was the complete setlist, as played, for Night 1 of this year's Youth Scholarship Benefit (or is it Benefit For Youth Scholarships?): Dawned On Me Wishful Thinking Laminated Cat (a/k/a Not For The Season) The Community Song (sung twice) Message From Mid-Bar (live debut) Art Of Almost New Madrid Box Full Of Letters In A Future Age Reservations Born Alone Passenger Side Wait Up --happy birthday sung to Stacy (and Billy)-- Henry and the H-Bombs [Mott The Hoople] Thirteen [big Star] Forget The Flowers Sunloathe (live debut) I Wish My Baby Was Born [traditional] At My Window Sad And Lonely I'
  14. Whenever I see the name Bill Evans, I of course immediately think of the great pianist. I wonder if Nels is a fan... Wasn't aware of the contemporary saxophonist Bill Evans, but I have to say that it's gotta be somewhat tough being a jazz musician with that name.
  15. Edit your post and go to "Use Full Editor."
  16. You're more than welcome to one of my crappily hand-scrawled ones next show we attend together...
  17. He'd probably play that, too, considering I've seen him there on more than a few occasions... As for the Big Star Third tribute, I have to think he's going to be doing You Can't Have Me. Wish I could be there. Awesome show, though I wonder how much of a shitshow it's going to be at SXSW (probably a big one).
  18. No, there wasn't a support act for this show. I think Scarlett O'Hanna, who had opened most of the dates on this European run, was originally slated to support in Zagreb as well but I guess she couldn't make it. So this turned into "An Evening With Wilco" perhaps helping to account for the longer setlist... And great to see you as always, Heike! Definitely hope to see you next time as well!
  19. Well, an 11-song encore...that's how you make a lot of new fans in a place you've never played before, I guess! Hell of a Croatian debut. I have to admit, I had my doubts when they moved the venue for the show from a club to a random hangar-like building that's part of a vast trade fair complex (apparently one of the largest 11 fairgrounds in the world). Suffice it to say that the place was pretty big, and I guess it hadn't hosted a concert in recent memory. Also, there was virtually no way that the sound was going to be pristine in that place. I'm sure the Wilco sound team did its best, an
  20. Yeah, sorry you missed that one. You´ll just have to come to Italy next time...
  21. Thanks for kind words! However, I should have clarified in my post that they just did a couple of bars of Born Alone without Jeff and Pat and then stopped and did the whole song properly from start to finish. Didn't mean to be misleading, although that would have been even cooler if they did an instrumental version...haha.
  22. Apologies to the handful of you who might care for the delay in posting last night's setlist — and thank you kindly, Bologna airport, for having free WiFi. I don't know if I really have that much insight to offer on this show, and I'm certainly not operating at 100 percent brainpower at the moment, but I can confirm that it was another fun Italian show. To start off, I have to give credit to the Italian crowds the past two nights. Obviously this is a total overgeneralization on my part, but judging purely from what I saw, they're willing to line up (pretty) early, are enthusiastic and both r
  23. While it may be named after a prison and sort of looked like one from the outside, the Alcatraz turned out to be a pretty cool rock club. Certainly it was one that Mr. Tweedy couldn't seem to get enough of, joking at one point that the band was "glad to be in front of a real crowd. It's freaking us out. We're used to people sitting (in other countries)." He also proclaimed tonight's crowd the best of the tour so far. Of course he quickly backtracked, saying that he didn't mean to insult anyone who had come from another country. Then inevitably, someone yelled out, "Chicago!" really loudly an
