I went to Athens this weekend to see the Old 97's. I had never seen the band in Athens, so I didn't know what to expect. Turns out the band doesn't have a lot of friends in the city, and the show had kind of a low turn out. This was my 21st 97's show, and they didn't disappoint. My mom and I got to town early enough to eat before the show, and Rhett actually walked by when we were in the diner and came in for a bit. It was a really funny coincidence. He said I could come to sound check, and I ended up being the only non-crew person there, so I got sort of a private 5 song mini-set. Murry a

I love this song live. I was spazzing out when they played it in Atlanta this year. Purposefully, for about 3 weeks at school in the fall of 09 I would park next to a Nova every day. It was white though.

I love radio contests. I used to call in all the time when I was a kid. My dad used to get stuff from the radio nearly every week when he had a desk job. He got to be known on the station for a time, and my sister and i thought he was so famous. That's cool you win so much, PopTodd.

10 us based music clubs- what city are they in TRIVIA

I removed my answers in case I spoil it.... I knew all of these from having various bootlegs of different shows by different bands -
I bit the bullet and bought an iPhone 4S today. No stores anywhere in Chattanooga had them in stock, so I had to order it through a Verizon store (though I went with a Satellite store as opposed to the full-blown Verizon store, because the people that work in that store are all mean, bitter, and not in the least bit helpful). The lady in the IPT Cellular store told me my phone will be here by Friday at the latest. Every other store in town said it would take 10+ days. Pretty happy with the purchase. Also got an Otterbox defender case. From the looks of FedEx it should get here tomorrow afterno

The set list is almost identical to the set they did on Tiny Desk and Daytrotter. I wonder if they're the standard "acoustic" versions they've done? I'll preview before I buy, but the collector in me knows I'll buy it just to have it.

from Wilco's Facebook: The next Solid Sound Festival will be held June 21-23, 2013 at MASS MoCA in North Adams, Ma. The three-day event will take a one-year hiatus in 2012, but Wilco will perform at the North Adams, MA museum this summer in a concert to benefit MASS MoCA. The exact date of the benefit concert will be announced shortly. http://solidsoundfestival.com/

if you're looking for super old stuff i doubt many old timers here want to give their stuff up. however if you're ever in south east tennessee check good wills. my dumb ass gave a bunch of wilco shirts to goodwill without knowing until it was too late. some from summer teeth era that i will never see again. still tore up about it.

Be careful with reptiles in general, because in some states it is illegal to keep them as pets, and also if you go the reptile route make sure you go through a reputable dealer, some pet companies don't have good practices with reptiles, and the animals are often mistreated. Easten Box Turtles are great, and on an average they live 10 years. Have you ever considered a leopard gecko or any sort of lizard? They are fairly common commercial reptiles kept for pets. On average they live 10 years in captivity if they've got a good diet and stuff. They require heat lamps, and an enclosure with san

i do not think velcro implies that those who use it are "dumbed down" some people have physical disabilities that make it hard for them to tie their own shoes. i sort of take offense to this post, because for one, i had to use velcro shoes until the age of 12 (when i was able to gain more stable motor function of my right hand). i couldn't tie my shoes, not because i was any less intelligent than my 6th grade peers, but because i was physically unable to.

Oh yeah, I actually get a discount for being a college student. 19% through Verizon on my monthly bill and 25% on phone accessories. It's really nice. I think I might take the smart phone plunge soon, especially because I do not have internet at my parents house, and spend a good amount of time there. It'd be really good to check up on school stuff and email.

Technical chops don't really mean a lot when you play with heart. Jeff definitely does on AGIB. One on the things that makes that record stand out so much to me is that it is so cathartic. There is genuine emotion. Personally, it's one of the most emotional records I've ever heard, and you can tell it just by listening to Jeff play. "ALTWYS", without fail, brings me to tears any time I hear it, even if just for a moment. To personify it a bit, it's like when the Grinch's heart grows big. There's just so much there.

i know there was a thread about iPhones a while ago, but i couldn't find it in the search. i am considering purchasing an iphone, and was wondering, for those of you who have one, is it worth the cost (extra monthly expense for data etc...) and is there really much of a difference between the 4S and the 4? I know i could probably find the answer on google faster, but I want you guys' opinions.

While we're on the subject of poo... once at my work I was handling a snake for a birthday party (the aquarium used to host birthday parties and the big surprise was that the kids got to touch a snake), and this particular day I was the one presenting the snake. Well my snake had other plans and proceeded to poo everywhere. Unsure of what to do after the snake was done, I called my boss (with phone in one hand and poopy snake in the other) who basically just said "clean the snake off with the snake bag (fancy word for pillow case) and get in that party!!". so i did, making sure every child not

I'm only 45 seconds in on that video and it's incredibly epic. Wow. Happy birthday to Nels!

Oh man I loved that record he did with Gibbard. Surprisingly, they complimented each other very well. I thought the last SV release was a little underwhelming for some reason, the songs were good, but it didn't stand out for me. The one before that I liked a lot (though the name escapes me as I type, and I'm too lazy to go back in the thread). I hope they tour extensively and come back through Chattanooga. I never miss them when they're through, though I can't say I'd travel to Nashville or Atlanta to see them.

Must see, eat and drink Nashville edition!

The guitar store right next to the ryman (i think that is the one mentioned above) is really cool. When Wilco was there back in October, Jeff and Nels were going to visit, but it was closed that day for some reason. Definitely do the CMHOF. It is cool. I have not been since I was in grade school, and I remember being very impressed (gonna try to take Matt up there to see it in the near future). I was in awe because at the time they had one of John Lennon's acoustic Gibsons. Places to eat... hmm... we went to a place on the strip called Jack's, and the BBQ was awesome, the sides not so mu -
I'm gonna have to give this a try. I was trying to figure it out the other night... was way off.

Avett Brothers in Chattanooga sold out in 27 seconds
SarahC replied to SarahC's topic in Someone Else's Song
welch79, what did you think of the show? I enjoyed it a lot, though the front quickly became too much for me to handle 1. because my sister almost got in a fight with a drunk girl over the drunk girl pushing in front of me 2. being squished by so many people behind me so, Matt and i moved back right before the encore. it was a lot better in the back, but a lot of talkers. I think track 29 is conducive to talkers though. the set list was amazing. they played for a good 45mins longer than the 1st time i saw them -
help my friend win avett brothers tickets on Facebook?
