  1. It is never, ever, correct to form a plural using an apostrophe.
  2. He's back, codename: Orkie.
  3. I don't think that's necessarily contradictory. Depends on what they see as the criteria for BT being the "finest hour" and what comparison points they use between SBS and BT...
  4. I swear this is not an alias of mine. Well said.
  5. They all sound like Bryant Gumbel. Wilco is seriously the wussiest sounding rock band in the history of rock bands. Seriously. You can buy the deluxe edition in stores. I got my copy (which included the "One True Vine" single) at Newbury Comics, but I'm sure you can get it elsewhere, also... Forgot to mention, I really enjoyed seeing the live versions on the DVD. Although I wouldn't say that all of them are better than the studio tracks - Jeff forgot some words, etc. - I definitely liked some of them more, particularly the vocal on "Hate It Here."
  6. It's quite graphically violent.
  7. I think "One True Vine" is a very pretty song, and perhaps (subjectively speaking, of course) better than a track or two from SBS, but I'm not sure it has a place on the album...
  8. I spent the entire bike ride into work this morning trying to come up with a moment on SBS that sounds like David Gilmour, and couldn't think of one. Now I find I read the thread last night the same way you did. Definitely the solo in "Hell is Chrome" comes straight from the Gilmour playbook...
  9. Timothy B. Schmit, actually. I don't really hear any Zep on the new album, but I don't listen to much of them these days, so I could very well be missing it.
  10. Yeah, sorry about that. It was a reaction to the boundless arrogance of the poster I was responding to.
  11. Shut the fuck up. People are welcome to express their opinion (and even fucking change it later down the road, or isn't it supposed to fucking grow on you? ) about the new Wilco album on this, a Wilco message board. Not every post about the album has to be a glowing review. Jesus.
  12. Listened to the first four songs in the car today. Big improvement over my downloaded rip.
  13. I can fairly safely assume there's not Kim Gordan. That chick from Sonic Youth I think is represented somewhere, though.
  14. But with a new dynamic, maybe? Nels wasn't in the band when they recorded AGIB, but he's on KT...
  15. Um, since the breakup of Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt has put out five albums (and two Jay solo albums & Gob Iron), while Wilco has put out six albums (seven if you count Being There as two), plus the two Mermaid Avenues (as well as the Chelsea Walls soundtrack, and Golden Smog and Loose Fur stuff). I don't get your loads of mediocrity v. one album every three years, or is that not supposed to be a comparison of quantity v. quality? I dunno, I liked The Search, probably at least as much as Sky Blue Sky, if not more. What do you find it derivative of? It's certainly different enough from previ
  16. Where does he say anything about Kicking Television other than "a live album followed"?
  17. I'm flattered, but I've never met the man.
