remphish1
I love to travel! As some of you know I ask for alot of travel advise on this page. So I figured it would be fun to share some stories and expierences. Maybe add your top 5 and we will go form there. Most intertesting Places I have been....1. Japan- Wow...its like your in the far future in Tokyo and ancient times are just a bullet train ride away in Kyoto. Kyoto is my favorite city I have ever visited. The buildings were impecable. The city was clean, interesting, peaceful and exciting all at the same time. Tokyo was great to but in a different way.2. Israel- Jerusalem is a city no one should miss. The religious sites and the marketplaces are enough to warrant the long plane ride alone. Great beaches in Tel-Aviv too. Old and New go hand in hand here.3. Latvia-Something about this former USSR Country that was intertesting. Downton Riga was culturally very intertesting. Many buildings from the 1300's that look like they were just built. The food was unique and the museaums were very neat.4. Lichtenstein- Some of the bets views I have ever seen! Wow! This is the Alps. Country is tiny but beautiful! Nice stores in Vaduz and the palace was neat! 5. Chile- I don't know how to describe this country. I really didn't know what to expect but it was amazing. The Andes behind Santiago are unparralled. Santiago was a little on the dirty side and the smog was bad but the scenery and the unique shops and plazas made up for it. My trip to the wineries in Chile were unforgetable as was the drive to Valparaso. Wish I had more time to explore. Some travle goals I have are to go to all 50 states (at 49...North Dakota left!) and all 7 continents I am at 5 (Australia and Antartica left). I also want to go to Greenland, Easter Island, Galapagos Island soon! Ok your turn!

cryptique
I was in Yugoslavia in December 1988 while it was still a Communist country, and it was a profound experience. I loved Zagreb ... such warmth and yet so austere. Even more, though, I loved the Plitvice Lakes, which has got to be one of the most gorgeous places on earth (and I was there during winter ... I can only imagine how beautiful it must be in summer). One family vacation took us through Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Quebec. I highly recommend all of them (though that was almost thirty years ago). My family traveled a lot, and as a kid I got through so many of the National Parks ... Yellowstone, Yosemite, Rocky Mountains, Mesa Verde, Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion, Glacier, Olympic, Crater Lake, Lassen Volcanic, Sequoia, Acadia, Badlands, Wind Cave, Grand Teton ... and probably a few others that I've forgotten. That was our thing -- camping in tents in National Parks. I wouldn't trade that experience for anything, but that was all at least 23 years ago (over 30 for some of those), so I doubt I'd have the same experience now. Sadly, I've not traveled much in the last couple of decades. Until recently, I haven't had the financial resources to do so, and now I'm a little gunshy about laying out the necessary cash for travel. I need to snap out of it, though, because I've got that traveling itch something fierce.
TCP
I've been to Red Deer, Edmonton, and Calgary. Once I went to Bellingham (in America!), and that's it. I'm kind of like a hobbit, I don't leave the shire much.
GtrPlyr
I think it was my parents that gave me the travel bug at an early age; it never went away. I've been to quite a few wonderful places. Here's a few favorites: http://www.belobrasil.ch/brasil/brasilien-cities/st
Preferred B
One family vacation took us through Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Quebec. I highly recommend all of them (though that was almost thirty years ago). Last summer I went on a Maritimes trip, seeing Wilco in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick as well as doing some sight-seeing, and then heading to Prince Edward Island for a few days. I loved it all, but PEI was amazing. Being a longtime L.M. Montgomery fan probably made it even better, but the scenery and atmosphere were beautiful in a way that's difficult to explain. I've been to a lot of fascinating places but the most unique were probably northern Sweden and Siberia. I camped for a few days in Lapland with friends during the summer of 2000. Lying in your tent near a river above the Arctic Circle in late June, freezing, fully light out at 1:00 a.m. was kind of a trip. I went to Buryatia as part of a medical outreach trip in 2001, and the trip was just amazing in every way. We visited hospitals and many other places, but my primary duty was working with orphans in a few orphanages near Lake Baikal. My photos from both of those trips are not digitized, but I plan to do that soon. Here are some other people's photos... Abisko, where we camped in Lapland: Ivolginsky Datsan, a Buddhist temple we visited in Ulan-Ude: I'm planning to spend a month next spring in Greece and Italy, so if anyone has recommendations I'm eager to hear them. I'd also like to hit all 50 states. I'm missing 11; mostly the Montana/Dakotas/Idaho/Wyoming area. (Plus Hawaii and Alaska.)
Mr. Heartbreak
Of all the places I've traveled, I would have to say the most exotic and interesting was Mindanao.
poppydawn
I've got lots and lots of travel goals, since I've yet to make it overseas. The UK, Italy, Provence (all the locales a former chef needs to visit), India, Greece, Morocco, Vietnam, Thailand (particularly the northern part). I've been to some interesting places stateside, mostly on road trips. My husband's from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, which might as well be on another planet. Very unique part of the country. I spent a lost weekend in Uncertain, Texas once. Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, the Everglades, Rocky Mtn. National Park, Mesa Verde. I've also been to Detroit more times than anyone who doesn't have relations in that city should visit.

Prague was bitchin! South of France was way cool, cliff diving, hashish, topless beaches, I need a vacation! I've been out west and some places inbetween, but there is many more places I'd love to see in the States, I hope to be a young retired man with an RV one day.
Serak_the_Preparer
I would love to travel overseas more, but I need to hit more National Parks in the US - they are truely treasures not to miss. As you can tell by my lists, I am a mountain guy and I am not too interested in big cities or beaches. That is not to say i don't enjoy cities and beaches, I just would rather spend my time hiking and taking pictures of landscapes and wildlife. My top 5 national parks so far: 1. Glacier N.P. (Going to the Sun Road is not to be missed)2. Yosemite N.P. (We hiked to the top of Half Dome!)3. Mt. Rainier N.P. (Backpacked the Wonderland Trail)4. Hawaii Volcanos N.P. (dipped my rock hammer into flowing lava)5. tie - Zion N.P. and Bryce Canyon N.P. (hit them both in the same trip) I always try to hit other countries national parks when I do get out of the US. Top 5 parks I have been to outside the country: 1. Banff N.P. (Canada)2. Westland/Tai Poutini N.P. (New Zealand - hiked the Franz Josef glacier)3. Fiordland N.P. (NZ)4. Mt. Cook N.P. (NZ)5. Virgin Islands N.P. (US, but you have to leave the country) Places I have vowed to see before I die: 1.Torres del Paine N.P.2. Galapagos Island3. Madagascar4. Borneo5. Antarctica

Hodie
I biked 650+ miles in New Zealand, and that was without a doubt the best place I ever visited. I've also been to Italy, England, Scotland, France, Canada, and in the futherance of Wilco, many U.S. tertiary markets. I've never been to Ireland (you heard me, gogo) and I've never been to Hawaii. I'm planning on both happening one of these years!
isadorah
Greece. absolutely amazing, my favorite spot in Greece, The Theatre of Dionysus. I have a great picture of it, but it's not digital yet and all the web images i can find look like they were taken in 1970 or something, don't do it justice. a place of beauty. this is going to sound so girly, you've been warned, i would love to get married there, it's an unbelievable place. ok, gotta actually have someone to marry first, but a girl can dream, right. i still want to see the grand canyon at sunset. in the next year!!
