nalafej
One of the better Ryan interviews I've seen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trOE6fVLPPI
Analogman
I saw some news yesterday that the new album is coming out in November. I have not listened to any of his stuff in a long time. I am giving Cold Roses and Easy Tiger a spin tonight.
suites
Cold roses. So good. I'm going to check out on airplane ride tomorrow
Analogman
Ryan Adams just announced that, following a short delay, his new album Prisoner will be out 2/17 via Pax Am/Blue Note/Capitol. The lead single “Do You Still Love Me?” will arrive tomorrow.
worldrecordplayer
Great. I hope that's followed by some U.S. tour dates. Been over 2 years since he's been in Boston.

Analogman
That song sounds like something played at the end of a movie you saw on HBO in 1983.
knotgreen
Yet another album of his I won't buy. Such a shame. He's never going to make Heartbreaker again.
Analogman
Oh, I go back further than that. He is never going to make Stranger's Almanac again.
lost highway
That song sounds like something played at the end of a movie you saw on HBO in 1983.Yeah, it's kind of like the Cure channeled through Eye of the Tiger. A little melodramatic and a little generic.
Analogman
That's it.
lost highway
This one's better to my ears: http://pitchfork.com/news/67983-ryan-adams-shares-new-song-to-be-without-you-listen/

knotgreen
Ryan's the guest on the most recent episode of Marc Maron's WTF podcast. They don't talk much, if at all really, about Prisoner. Ryan talks a lot about his upbringing and his relationship with his grandparents, the Whiskeytown days, a bit about his divorce. It's a good episode and it makes me hope that one day Jeff too will find his way into Marc's garage.
Analogman
I think I read somewhere that he is writing a book about the Whiskeytown days. Have you seen the super deluxe package of the new album? I am not buying it - but he has put some interesting things together.

Have you seen the super deluxe package of the new album? I am not buying it - but he has put some interesting things together. I think he mentioned the Whiskeytown book in a recent press interview, as I think I read that too. I (stupidly) ordered the new boxset. It is expensive, but after missing out on Life after Deaf I told myself I wouldn't second guess these types of purchases. There are so few artists I'd buy something like this for, I figured why not. Plus, having all of the PaxAm 7"s, the completist in me couldn't pass it up. I'm a sucker for some b-sides...
Analogman
And you can play with those Ryan and band cut-outs. . .
remphish1
It might only me but I like Easy Tiger, Gold, Rock n Roll better than Heartbreaker
uncool2pillow
Pretty good interview. I've never seen him as a likable guy, though I love many of his albums. Maron tends to bring out the best in everyone on his podcast and this was no exception.
Analogman
I have never listened to his show until I happened to catch the Bruce Springsteen episode.
uncool2pillow
He really is a top-notch interviewer. For a guy who's a self-admitted (recovering) asshole, he sure is a great listener and empathizer. I started listening to him a couple of years ago when there were guests I was interested in. Now I listen to every episode.

I love seeing who's on for the week on Monday morning. It's often a nice little surprise. I was pumped to see Ryan Adams. I'm about half way through and it's a really good conversation. I had no idea Ryan was so into skating.
