*I think my favorite moment in tonight's show might have been a tie between Pat's Michael McDonald imitation at the end of Too Far Apart and Jeff calling Leave Me Like You Found Me "a piece of shit" while awarding one of the show's dinner gift certificates to someone who had apparently requested the song.

 

*Mike's little synthesizer ode to the Easter Bunny was pretty great as well. I think he should flesh it out and put it on the next Pronto record.

 

*Hooray for Dreamer In My Dreams for the second consecutive show, this time with Nels on electric guitar (his Tele, I believe)!

I couldn't help cheering that. I mean ...

 

I'd say that Mike's Easter Bunny synth jam wasn't quite solo. It was an infectious little tune, and there was some other instrumentation toward the end there. If only we'd heard the "egg" version.

 

"What's the World Got In Store" was a treat to hear, and it sounded great. I also loved the full electric version of "Dreamer," beefing up the stripped-down version we saw in Montclair.

 

I wish I had more non-Easter time to explore Providence. As it is, I'm already looking forward to next weekend in Pennsylvania. (I think I'm spending every weekend from now until June in a hotel.) Dave, great to see you too! P, glad you made it through Bridgeport unscathed.

Another great show! Got my first She's a Jar last night!! Well worth the 3hr. ride from Long Island but I have to say that Lupos is a dump. I did however get a ticket on the street for $20.00. Next stop for me is Philly on Sat.

Just wondering, Is Jeff wearing sideshow Bob's shoes? Those things are huge.

Great show last night, and a cool venue for a show (despite the 100 degrees inside). This is my 5th Wilco show (6th if you count Tweedy solo show) and this was easily their best show so far. Cant wait to see them in Hartford Friday night!

As for Mike's synthesizer, I wish I could have heard that. He played this solo during "California Stars" at the Strathmore show in Bethetesda that sounded like a cross between one of those cheesy Hawaiian wooden flutes and a child's choo-choo train toy. Saw one of the crew in the wings raising up the devil horns after the solo while Mike winked at him...

I guess it's some sort of pipe organ sample or something; the first time he used it, I think it even caught Jeff a little by surprise because he cracked up and sort of missed his cue to start singing again.

 

As far as the Michael McDonald thing, it was just at the end of "Too Far Apart" when Jeff sings "Couldn't be any closer to you..." in that silly falsetto. In Providence, he asked Pat to help him out and give him a little impression of what Michael McDonald would sound like singing that line. Which Pat did. You sort of had to be there, I suppose, but it was funny. Pat also does a decent Bill Cosby impression, if memory serves.

Awesome show last night. It was a marathon, I was exhausted after the 3+ hours.

The circus organ sound in California Stars was hilarious in Richmond. Jeff got distracted, and after the song asked what it was. Mike played a bit of it, and Jeff did a little dance, saying "oh, that makes me so happy I forgot where I was." Then Mike Glenn and Pat did a very brief jam off of that solo. I still crack up when I hear it in the bootleg.

It is just amazing that they played for just over 3 hrs.... over 30 songs.... I can't believe that they have been doing shows like this all tour... It was more than worth the price of ticket... I would have paid a lot more for that ticket... I mean all Wilco was awesome!!

 

I can't wait until the show is posted online!!! I want to hear it again!!!

I thought Pat's piano solo on California was so amazing, even Mike seemed to be amazed by it, too.

HOLY SHIT, LAMINATED CAT!!! I cannot express how amazing it was to hear that song performed live, I was literally weak in the knees. Whenever I have a few months off between Wilco shows I think "there's no way they can be that good....then they top the last one. Can't wait for The Orpheum, then it's onto the Bushnell for me. Though I have to say...general admission at Wilco? Not much can top that. This was my 6th show (5 Wilco, 1 Tweedy) and there were many songs that I heard for the first time.

 

Wilco does love me, baby. What a treat!

The Last Few Songs it seemed to me no Group of people stood for more than a minute or 2

 

But that did not kill a fine vibe from the unison I could see on the FLR; the Band and the Flr seemed to be locked in

 

 

But otherwise an VERY IMpressive Bunch of songs and the Band was Loose and Fun

Yep, Pat did his very fine Bill Cosby impression in Clearwater after Jeff asked the crowd if they were all going to return to Ruth Eckerd to see the upcoming Bill Cosby show. One of several classic moments that night.

What a fantastic show! Wife and I were standing 4 rows back directly in front of Jeff. Band seemed to be having lots of fun. Jeff seemed to be genuinely impressed with the level of crowd participation for Jesus, etc. Highlights included Laminated Cat, the generous number of selections from Being There and watching Mike go crazy on his keyboards with what looked to be a pillow. Many shows have a point where the energy level hits a zenith: Last night, for me, it was the second chorus of Shot in the Arm where for a moment (Bloodier than Blood) all the cosmic tumblers clicked into place.

what did u think of that show? i wasn't all that impressed... deerhunter are a much better studio band, and i felt like spoon weren't all that memorable. britt has a great stage presence though-- but it felt like he was more or less going through the motions.
