Well, that was an absolutely friggin insane and joyous experience. I'm not really into metal, but there's a vibe amongst metal fans (or maybe just Voivod fans....maybe it's the Canada thing) that is very different than anything I've experienced at a concert. And whatever it is, it exists between the band and audience, too. Before they left the stage at the end of their encore they spent several minutes giving handshakes, hugs, high fives, etc to the fans. I've seen musicians do this before (Mike Watt comes to mind), but never anything close to this. Inspiring!

Widespread Panic tonight at a fancy venue in Norfolk (Chrysler Hall, where the symphony and Broadway productions play).This will be my first time seeing them but it seems like an odd choice of venue. We've got great seats, though.

Jason Isbell on Colbert last night

Anyone who was at the Beacon last night recall the set times?

 

Shovels & Rope came on right about 8 and played until 8:40, set change was 20 minutes, Isbell came on right around 9, finished main set around 10:30, encore done around 10:50.
