remphish1
He is the oldest in the band by a few years Stipe was born in 1960 and Mills and Berry were in 1958

Boss_Tweedy
Did anyone catch Michael Stipe on Colbert last night? Good stuff! Here's a video clip: Interview: http://www.cbs.com/shows/the-late-show-with-stephen-colbert/video/31SwBxDrewo7253ygItLmshV_aGF_1NX/michael-stipe-wrote-a-book-with-no-pages/ Song: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/see-michael-stipe-james-franco-in-2016-themed-rem-parody-w456342
worldrecordplayer
I watched the End of the Year As We Know It clip, well done. I have such a hard time looking at Stipe with that beard. My wife hasn't seen him in a long time and couldn't believe it. Not in a good way. Was anyone here on the old R.E.M. board Murmurs? I was Reverend Bill Funderburk there. Damn, I was not aware. I was spending lots of time on the WELL.
worldrecordplayer
To me everything they put their name on was solid till Bill Berry retired. Completely agree that they're one of the greatest American bands. 100%

worldrecordplayer
I love a list! It's meaningless, but I'll definitely spend some time with this one. Which if nothing else will compel me to spend lots of time listening to R.E.M. They were my #1 for many years.
Passenger Sid
Exhibit A:61. Green Grow The Rushes62. Flowers Of Guatemala The list is wrong. I don't think I need to make any other arguments.
Analogman
I am not really into lists - but Flowers of Guatemala is one of my favorite R.E.M. songs. If I had to name my very favorites I would say Swan Swan H and Driver-8.
Passenger Sid
I am not really into lists - but Flowers of Guatemala is one of my favorite R.E.M. songs. If I had to name my very favorites I would say Swan Swan H and Driver-8. R.E.M. has SO many great songs that lists like these are kinda fun for debate. Flowers is a definite Top 10 for me. Driver 8 is hard to argue against. Kohoutek (#96) and 11th Untitled Song (#110) are 2 others that stood out to me as being way too low.
Oil Can Boyd
Kohoutek (#96) and 11th Untitled Song (#110) are 2 others that stood out to me as being way too low. Kohoutek is a top ten song for me.
Analogman
I think I read somewhere they are doing a 25th anniversary release of Automatic for The People.
nalafej
You can see why they hung it up from this list. Nothing from beyond the 1990's until the 50's
Doug
I think I read somewhere they are doing a 25th anniversary release of Automatic for The People. Yep. Still waiting for a release date and tracklisting. http://www.superdeluxeedition.com/news/r-e-m-s-automatic-for-the-people-reissue-confirmed-for-2017-on-new-label/
Passenger Sid
I think I read somewhere they are doing a 25th anniversary release of Automatic for The People. That could be REALLY worth getting. Supposedly, a couple unheard full songs and a few music-only recordings from that time could be part of it.
