indy81
Is this Sprint Evo commercial with "I'm Always in Love" new? I can't find any reference to it on the board. First time I can remember hearing a Wilco song (or in this case, a cover of it) in a commercial since the good ol' Volkswagen days of '07. I got a kick out of it once I realized what I was hearing. MWB
It has to be new. It's not on YouTube, and there's nothing about it on Google. Very cool ad, though.
Magnetized
Yes, I've been searching for a link but can't find a thing. Would really appreciate it if someone could post a link.

Tweedling
My wife and kids summoned me to the living room last night to watch it. It's funny because at the beginning I felt like I had heard the melody before but didn't think much of it. However, once it really started going and the people sang the lyrics.....the usual chill bumps ensued. I LoveThat Song!
The High Heat
And the 30 second ad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctMKP0B7DGA&feature=relmfu

SarahC
Wow! That is awesome. I don't watch TV enough to see commercials. Thanks for sharing. wonder if any of my family have seen it yet? They've always got a TV on.

Beltmann
In 2007, by now this thread would have had about five pages of passionate outrages and defenses. Ah, the good ol' days...
Albert Tatlock
Does it come with a special dispensation waiver certificate that allows it to be used to video at Wilco shows or a built in electronic bar?
augurus
Oh no. Them popular commercials that cover bands but vaguely leave the viewers uninformed of consent. I wonder if this is musical rape.
worldrecordplayer
That's great! I don't watch commercials, but I would watch that one.

suites
The band had to sign off on this? Not them performing? Who is it?

cre618
The band had to sign off on this? Not them performing? Who is it? No idea. Might have been recorded for the commercial. Whoever owns the publishing (the writer) has to sign off on this...so that would be Jeff. The final TV spot is powerful and strikes a chord artistically and from a product-feature standpoint.” Hit love song. Heh. Clearly not Wilco performing.
theashtraysays
Maybe Pat will expand his "multi instrumentalist" role to include smartphone. (null)
dmhphoto
I like this idea of using the smart phone as part of a flash mob during a show. I think Wilco would get a kick out of it.

The songwriting credits on Summerteeth were given to the entire band so the estate of Jay Bennett, John Stirratt and Ken Coomer (provided he isn't still trapped in a basement) oughta be getting a few royalties kicked their way as well. --Mike
bleedorange
I think it's a travesty.

With only 900-1000 people in that small room, it would be a blast to pull this off. Any choreographers out there?
The High Heat
I think it's a travesty. But some of them actually use Sprint products...while driving Volkswagens...full of gas from Wilco travel stations... What exactly is the travesty? The commercial itself? The commercialization? The phone? Sprint? The flash mob idea?
