knotgreen
Surprised that we (or at least I) haven't heard from the Tweedy management folks about this yet. Or maybe we have and I missed it. Anyway, a cool incentive to get out to your local independent record shop for all you completists... http://modern-vinyl.com/2014/08/29/tweedy-7-includes-coupon-for-lp/I saw Spencer tweet a picture of this today and figured it was a RSD release, for some reason. Thanks for the heads up! I was able to put one on hold for this weekend.
SarahC
I hope I win that damned guitar. I've been trying for 6 or 8 years to win a wilco guitar at this point, dang it!

watchtower41
So I was finally getting around to pre-order the album today from wilcoworld.net. The Limited Edition Colored Vinyl is $35 Cheapest Shipping Option $13.05 $48.05 for limited edition Sukierae??? Is this some kind of joke, or does this come with the Beatles Mono albums??? I can justify $35 for a limited edition vinyl from an artist I love, but $13.05 shipping!!!???
LouieB
I figure Laurie's will have some copies. LouieB

SarahC
I think it was 06 when the first ever wilco guitar was given away, so that would make it 8- however it could have been 08. point is: i've been entering these contests a long time.
watchtower41
I figure Laurie's will have some copies. Here's hoping, althought I don't know if they'll get the colored.... at any rate, there's no way it costs $13.05 to ship a double LP.
LouieB
I picked up the single yesterday with a $4 off for the record. No idea if it is colored or not. Honestly what's the difference? LouieB

LouieB According to http://tweedy.kungfustore.com/ the difference is $10.00, and the limited edition is yellow/orange swirl. Sure they'll sound the same. I'm a vinyl freak however, and get excited about limited releases, especially releases that involve a favorite artist or band. I really want to support Tweedy more by buying from their pre-sale site, but Kung Fu ruins that with gauging shipping prices. Anyone can pre-order the LP from Amazon for $25 without having to worry about shipping costs, so there's really no incentive to pre-order it from the Tweedy store unless you want a contest entry or wanted to bundle with a t-shirt or tattoo? you ever seen a ghost?
i wish somebody would rip some of these b-sides. are there only two? i mean, i've pre-ordered the CD from Amazon and i don't do vinyl these days, but i am an OCD completist. i guess i'll ask: does anyone have vinyl rips or the ability to do so?? -justin
linclink
Lyrics have appeared online for all almost all of the pre-order downloads (on Zumic.com)- the exception being "I'll Sing It" (which they link to, but lyriclessly so...)...as always, the lyrics are a great read!! As favorite a songwriter as I have, & have ever had...love some as much of course, but he's in that absolute rarefied top tier...1) "Summer Noon"Summer noon I can always stayTo radiate what the cello can’t playShe spoke to me and provoked my bandAnd I broke in two in the heat of her handLike a lioness or a coyoteAt a pink beating heart in the balconyI followed the finger to the creature’s gateIn the hubbub where the pitiful congregateI thought there was a note I could not hearSo I floated to the whisper up against my earAfterwards, I found my face in the trashReally at the core of it, it wasn’t so badNever leave your mother’s wombUnless you wanna see how hard a broken heart can swoonUnless you wanna see how hard a broken heart can swoonSummer noon I can always stayTo radiate what the cello can’t playShe spoke to me and provoked my bandAnd I broke in two in the heat of her handLike a lioness or a coyoteAt a pink beating heart in the balconyI followed the finger to the creature’s gateIn the hubbub where the pitiful congregateI thought there was a note I could not hearSo I floated to the whisper up against my earAfterwards, I found my face in the trashReally at the core of it, it wasn’t so badNever leave your mother’s wombUnless you wanna see how hard a broken heart can swoonUnless you wanna see how hard a broken heart can2) "Flowering"Hold me strangerDon’t deceiveAngel masterCan’t retrieveAnd all the knotsHung high in the treesSpilling oceansExisting to believeTold you dangerCarbon crownMarch through the salt slushHowling at the groundWhistle my answerDance a blank faceTorment my sugarAnd leaving any trace of floweringFloweringHold me strangerDon’t deceiveAngel masterCan’t retrieveAnd all the knotsHung high in the treesSpilling oceansExisting to believeWe’re floweringWe’re floweringFloweringFlowering3) "Fake Fur Coat"Behold the drift of a distant sunCold as my own heartBlind at the edge of no returnEvery time I dare departI believe the myth may illuminateAn anchor in the dry weedsAt the end of July, in a fake fur coatHoping that your heart still needs meI can see there’s beauty in bubble gumI’m rolling up my sleevesTo advertise the new freedomI accept I can’t receiveBehold the gift of a distant sunCanyons full of loose bonesThe nettles and the brambles and the jack ditch bossThundering down from his throne4) "Wait For Love"Honey I’m worried, the fires coldThe tired souls have lost their wayStay a woman find a song, then awayAlone and strange, out of rangeI’ve heard you say dreams don’t matterBut it’s why we hold on as the days passAnd wait for loveOn and on waltz through the distant dayScatter parades as the sweet slips awayOh, I guess you say we don’t matterAnd I bet that could be trueBut I still wanna look in your eyes and sayI’ll wait for youOh, I guess you say we don’t matterAnd I bet that could be trueBut I still wanna look in your eyes todayAnd wait for loveLet’s wait for love5) "Diamond Light Part 1"Why don’t we pick our own script and read itWhere the milk has dried on the throneOpen wires string gracefully besideRolling rivers of diamond lightDash and heave each ache to the skyWhy don’t we choose one to believe inWhere shadows die all so aloneCold inside, colliding points of viewPerfect mountains of diamond lightDash and heave each ache to the skyAre you scared? Magnetized
It's just beautiful. I feel like I've spent a very intimate evening and morning with my favorite artist singing sweetly in my ear. It's going to take a while to process all of this and let it settle in, but so far this is everything I could have hoped for. The opening and closing songs are pretty perfect too. rhino4evr
oh man...wish I would have read this before I got to work. Oh well, I know what I am doing for lunch. So is it in the vein of any Wilco albums? Or does it feel like something different?
Albert Tatlock
So is it in the vein of any Wilco albums? Or does it feel like something different?Comments after one listen can be worthless, but I like the sequencing, and even though there are a variety of styles, there seems to be an underlying consistency in 'feel'. I thought it might be what I consider the most consistent JT album, and I think it indeed is - I don't think I would skip anything, whereas every other album has always had something that immediately grates a bit and I feel I can do without. But asm me in a month . . . :-)

But asm me in a month . . . :-) Agreed. It's impossible to give a good impression after just a couple of listens. But the sequencing feels really well thought out, and my first impression of the songs I hadn't already heard was very positive. It's great to hear everything in context. SarahC
It feels more intimate than a Wilco record has ever felt, almost to the point where I feel like I'm intruding as a listener. I do love it though. Listened through this morning and I can't wait to hear it on vinyl next week. Wondering if any of the songs not previously played live will make it into this upcoming run of shows. I hope so!
Moss
Ah the age old question. Listen on my computer at work or wait until I get the CD in the mail and go full on headphones...
