My boy Rizzo is on track to have one of the strangest seasons anyone has ever had - he's flirting with The Mendoza Line (currently .213) but he has 32 RBIs in 48 games (of which he's only played in 39). He *could* be the first player to hit .200 or a shade above and still get 100 RBIS. I do think he'll eventually heat up with the BA, but still...really weird.

What do you think of Rizzo's slide -- I thought it was fine -- Rizzo definitely tried to take the catcher out, though - but he stayed in the base line and went for the bag.

Yeah, it appeared to me to be within the rules. I *can* see the Pirates' argument, I understand why they argued, but it was just a hard-nosed breakup of a DP in my opinion.

One thing's for sure - if Pittsburgh decides to throw at any Cubs today (especially Rizz) all hell will break loose.

It was an illegal slide.  Rizzo is a great player and, by all accounts, even a better person, but it was an illegal slide.

With the Posey rule change - it was probably was illegal. But even after review, they deemed it legal - so who knows.

Yeah, actually surprised it wasn't overturned. Either way, it was a bullshit slide, imo. He was already out. "Breaking up the double play" by taking a man down from behind is weak. He'll definitely take one today. Glad Diaz is ok, too.

No -- Contreras (Cub's Catcher) got hit twice, though. The 2nd time, the pitcher was definitely having issues, though. Didn't see the 1st time.

Rizzo was involved in another review, though. He hit home run to the upper deck and a fan caught it at the railing (a nice catch by-the-way). They had to review it to determine if he caught it above the yellow line. The fan happen to be a Cub's fan, too (at least he had a Cub's jersey on  -- they were playing in Pitt)

Bartman does road games, too?

Yeah --- the dude was just hanging out after he caught it checking his phone  ---- I was thinking he may want to duck away for a while - but I guess the fans in Pittsburgh are nice. It was a great catch and clear (to me at least) that the ball was over the line. I just found it funny that Rizzo was involved with another replay.

Finally a great White Sox game last night - it's been a while. It was nice to top Sale in a 1-0 game.

It's also nice seeing Jason Heyward (Cubs) finally hitting.

As a Red Sox fan, I am hoping that they do not sign JD Martinez for more than 5 years/110 million. I'd be happiest with not signing him at all.

I replied "Ditto!" to this last February and would, at this time, like to "officially: retract my comment.

Eating my words right now. As a Sox fan, they taste good.

What a season thus far. It's been a thrill watching this team. Last night was another ridiculous example of how they plug away an have an air of surety and confidence that makes comebacks seem common.

The White Sox have been been playing pretty great since the break -- this is a huge blow.

White Sox star pitching prospect Michael Kopech has a UCL tear in his right elbow, and the recommendation is that he undergo Tommy John surgery. He will get a second opinion.

Having the surgery now would keep the flamethrowing 22-year-old right-hander out until the 2020 season. It would be a big blow for an up-and-coming White Sox team that has a ton of young talent -- both with the Major League club and in the Minors.

Kopech, rated the White Sox No. 2 prospect and the No. 13 overall prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline, made his highly anticipated Major League debut on Aug. 21, throwing a pair of scoreless innings with four strikeouts in a rain-shortened outing. He's made four starts in total.

Anyone else see the Cubs game last night? One of the announcers called a Kris Bryant home run and I'll be damned, Bryant stepped up and hit one. Too cool.
