well I have a very good friend that leads a band in the Twin Cities thats been getting a lot of positive reviews and press in the last six months. Great articles in local papers and on local blogs, including Solace's More Cowbell. They are called Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles (misspelling is intentional I guess). They just released their debut CD called "Orange Peels and Rattlesnakes" Check out her myspace : Lucy's Myspace

yes, I saw this tour too. At first I couldn't believe that the guy was just going to stand there and sing along to his laptop but thats what he did. After a while I found it pretty funny, he would just stare intensely at the crowd during the instrumental parts of the songs and I kinda liked that. As for walking out, I don't think I've ever done it at a club show, but at lollapalooza this year I did "walk out" of MGMT. It was way over packed for their set and the sound wasn't loud enough. From where I was they just looked stupid jumping around while making what seemed to me like very little

yes! I've been waiting for this one for a long time. So far it sounds very good, I love the funky sounds of their last couple of records and this one seems to really push that sound out as far as it can go. So far the stand out for me is "For Our Elegant Caste" we can do it softcore if you want but you should know I go both ways

I still can't stop listening to this album. I keep thinking I'll get sick of it but everytime I listen to it I latch on to something different. Right now I keep listening to For Emma and re:stacks over and over again. The line "everything that happens is from now on" is one of those universal truths that just hits so hard when he sings it. also I saw him earlier this week in milwaukee and it was such a great show. It was packed and he seemed really excited about it. I think creature fear was the highlight, they really rocked it

is mike lewis really playing with Bird? that would be awesome, he is one of the most interesting musicians around right now, I'd love to see him join that band.

Yes, very exciting news. Glad to see a Milwaukee date on their tour. Can't wait to hear the new record

the transition into Hang on to Yourself at the end makes it just about the coolest thing ever -
I agree with you. I think "smokin from shooting" is my favorite on the album and probably my favorite MMJ song. Evil Urges just kicks so much ass as a song, I love it too.

been reading a lot about the new hold steady album and i have been enjoying it a bit. Mostly it makes me pine for the old Lifter Puller days. I miss Nightclub Dwight and Katrina. Anyone else a big fan? anyone see them live? favorite lyrics? I hope i'm not alone. recently I can't stop playing the track "Viceburgh" love the lyrics: "hey angel, remember that cat had the hat that said sharks his jacket said jets and he signals to guys in windows of highrises went down in frogtown, drive-thru turned into a drive-by it left us so dry and decreasingly high, increasingly shakey hey jerky, these tr

just saw him in milwaukee last weekend and it was really great. The crowd was pretty talkative and that seemed to freak him out a bit. I guess he can't make up his mind. He played a lot of modest mouse which was pretty nice to hear.

listened to it a couple times now and I think its pretty good. still makes me wish that craig would just go back to rapping...I miss that -
I'm looking forward to this also. I saw him in Milwaukee about a month ago and he played a bunch of stuff off of it and the songs sounded great. Should be a good one.

ahh yes, I had heard the story about that. I can't complain too much though, the album is still amazing without those songs

I picked up A Series Of Sneaks today and it sounds really great, glad to have this one on vinyl. It's definitely my favorite spoon album. The copy I got today though had two less songs then my old CD copy of the record. It was missing the last two songs Lafayette don't fail me now and The Agony of Lafayette. were those bonuses for the CD or what? I really love those songs

just watched this last night. I thought it was really great

this is such a good record. Definitely one of the best in recent years, I find myself coming back to it all the time and I still find new things to like about it. right now it's Saint John, that whole song is sounding pretty good to me today

FYI This has leaked and it sounds pretty damn good

just wanted to add my praise for this album. So far I think it is my favorite of the year. everything on it sounds great and I love the new more "sonic" sound that they have on this record. does anyone else think that the chorus to Oceans & Streams sounds like Cee-Lo singing? everytime I hear it I think it might be a gnarls track
