  1. I just listened to that 1973 Southampton show this past weekend. Looking forward to these sets --- I have to check to see if I have the 69 show at home.
  2. Butch's nephew Duane was Butch's replacement.
  3. Steven Wright did some stand up between sets at a Dylan and Phil Lesh show on 10/31/99 - that was fun and unsuspected.
  4. A few of smaller shows that spring to mind was seeing Dylan a couple of times at the Metro and couple of times at the Park West. Tweedy at Lounge Ax a few times was nice, too. Favorite larger shows: Dead at Soldier Field, 1991, also the Lollapalooza's I have been to in the past have been pretty damn good - notably seeing LCD Soundsystem play Daft Punk in my House during their set, then have Daft Punk play directly after them in the same field was pretty cool, also NIN put on a hell of show five or so years ago, Wilco's first appearance was more memorable than their 2nd, seeing Patti Smith si
  5. Great Ratdog show last Friday in Chicago - probably the best Dead related show I saw. It's rather amazing how Weir sounded, esp. at his age. They played Terrapin during the 2nd set and for the encore pulled off a great At a Siding > Terrapin Flyer. Jeff C had the "orchestration" part down pat on his keyboards. Even the Red Rooster (as Night of Joy predicted) was sort of exciting. The bass bomb intro into The Other One, played by Sylvester - also sounded great. Once I picked up Wasserman in the mix - his contributions were cool to hear - mostly played a bow on his up right bass. The on
  6. If everything goes just exactly perfect - Ratdog.
  7. You are sure pushing libraries today, A-Man. I have it on request from my library system - it's in transit. I read the Skydog book - it's the only Allman Brother book that I read.
  8. If you can track down a link, that would be great. Bill's drumming on that 72 Ohio Playin that Shug posted - is great - right in the forefront.
  9. I really like the new CRB tune - it's different, but I usually always like different. Rich's record cover looks pretty cool - the harmonies and guitar work are nice on his tune - but there is nothing new - good though.
  10. Bad ska shows at bars were always fun in the early 90's while at school at SIU (Carbondale, IL).
  11. See post above you - it's Jonathan Parker. He uses to sing lead a bit too - Immigration Song, etc.
  12. Just read that Bob Weir & Ratdog with Dwight Yoakam with play at Ravinia Park in Highland Park (high class north-shore suburb of Chicago) - the neighborhood is not going to know what hit him. I do like the pairing. I have gone to shows (Lyle Lovett (twice) and the Indigo Girls) there and it is quite nice ---- allow to bring in food/picnic and booze, which is nice.
  13. Thanks for the write-up roadhse ma. Hoping for an interesting guest here in Chicago - looks like they have been pulling some great guests and the guests have been well received and played well, which is not always the case at some shows that I have seen in the past. I always enjoyed Tony "Thunder" Smith's drumming.
  14. I am catching them next month in Chicago. If you don't mind, I wouldn't mind to read your thoughts on the show. I heard one show from this tour - sounded nice.
  15. Day Job opened up the 2nd set at The Richmond 83 show - I don't think I ever saw that song in that slot before, but I don't listen to 83 or 84 very often, so perhaps they did. Brent keyboard is really up in the mix of Feel like a Stranger on the Silberman/Miller tape.
  16. SS is correct - every second of World Gone Wrong is great ---- I always thought Good as I Been to You was a bit stale. I was in still in high school when Oh Mercy was released and upon listening it hooked me into Dylan. Before that I think I only had the Greatest Hits Vol. 1 tape.
  17. Yeah - went to the site when I got home last night and saw that -- oh well. Digitally is definitely cheaper, though - and no shipping charges. Have to admit, I play most of music through my hard drive/home stereo system - so having it just digitally is fine by me.
  18. I suck at library races. Now reading the below -- depressing but interesting.
  19. I would hope so, but don't know. All the downloads I got from HD Tracks have liner notes in a PDF format. Only 100 left of the Spring 77 set ---- anybody who purchased this have any thoughts. This would be the first box set that I passed up purchasing, other than the Formerly the Warlocks set.
  20. I am not fan of going to stadium shows any more and the newer U2 tunes don't hold my interest any more. 10 - 15 years ago I would have put up with a stadium/arena show. Same thing with Stones, I guess, though their prices makes it an easy decision.
  21. That was my only Dark Star, too. (I don't count the little tease they did at Soldier Field in 91.)
  22. U2 is one of the few bands that I regret not seeing live, but now I don't have any desire to catch one of their shows. Still watch their Elevation Boston and Mexico City PopMart DVDs from time to time.
