  1. Really - damn hippies. Is Wilco not "jammy" enough for them. All the hippie/deadheads I know are all Wilco fans. I am not Facebook, but their page is public - it's nice to see Lambert sticking up for Wilco - he is always talking about Wilco on his and Gans' Tales radio show.
  2. I heard it's being billed as a reunion and they will just be busting out the old "warhorses" .
  3. My kid want's me to put a hummingbird feeder in our yard (he is a Wild Kratts fan) - I told him okay.
  4. http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/la-et-ms-rock-hall-fame-andrew-loog-oldham-boycott-20140407,0,683711.story His main point, I guess, is that he can't do blow at his table if he wants, because the festivities are being filmed (unlike 20 years ago). I listen to his radio show sometimes, he does have some great stories.
  5. I don't how locked in Conan O'Brien's contract is, but I guess it would be fitting for him to replace Letterman, again. I heard his ratings are horrible on TBS - so TBS may want to drop him if they have a chance.
  6. Heard great things about last years fest - should be fun. Looked like a great lineup, even before Wilco was announced.
  7. If I could have my guitar, I would have no problem picking #2, because I could just play the past tunes. Not being able to hear new music, esp. jazz music, would suck.
  8. With the exception of Lazy Lightning - this past tour, Weir has been playing all those songs mentioned above.
  9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2d8CEt7vik Suppose this could go in the YouTube thread, but it's the olny method of me hearing this, so I am pretending I have it on vinyl.
  10. Ratdog has been playing great as of late, as posted before, saw them last month or so. I have been to boring Ratdog shows, though. If one likes the actual tunes, because of not having Garcia around anymore, sounds like a pretty dumb reason to not see any more shows with these tunes are being played - IMHO, of course. (And I don't mean that your friend is dumb, WilcoMe ) I don't equate Tweedy's role in Wilco to Garcia's role in the Grateful Dead - for one Garcia didn't write the lyrics that draw me to the Dead tunes as much as Garcia guitar playing does.
  11. So that's what happen - jeez. I never watched Portlandia, though I enjoy Fred A. and Brownstein -- Parks has been great this season again, this recent Prom episode might have been a good fit for Tweedy. Look forward to his appearance.
  12. Yeah - I was talking about the official webcasts, I think they are broadcasting the entire run - officially.
  13. Can you keep a copy of the stream if one purchases it?
  14. Wrack and Ballister - interesting show - two completely different styles of bands made for a nice evening. Reed did a great job with the bar area and the venue is great, also - enjoy the stadium like seating all around the floor and it's great that the bands set up directly on the floor, so you can look down onto them, rather than the normal looking up at a stage. I had a whole different perspective watching Paal Nilssen-Love play the drums. Also, Dave Rempis got even smarter and installed a credit card swiper on his phone - I spent a bit of dough on cds Lastly, I guess that vinyl has hit
  15. Because I am a (sometimes depressed) Chicago jazz lover music snob Many of the musicians have played and recorded shows at the club over the years and they all have great thing to say about the owners/club.
  16. Same here - this is pretty much why enjoy listening to jazz more so then other types of music, because I hear something different each time I hear a tune that I have listened to countless times (same reason that I enjoy the Grateful Dead).
  17. That's a place I hope to make it to one day, have you ever seen a show at Alchemia?
  18. I don't listen to much vocal jazz and when I do it is usually older big band stuff (Count Basie, etc). One recent release by Dave Douglas has vocals on it - Be Still - very good stuff, the record is a tribute to his mother who passed away recently, so it's pretty spiritual/traditional type stuff. The vocalist comes from a blue grass back ground, I guess, honestly I never heard of her prior to purchasing Be Still; also really like the record cover. Also, with regards to singing, a lot Steve Lacy (Ellery Eskelin, too) stuff has 'singing' on it but the vocalist uses her voice as more of a
  19. I got lucky and we were able to get our car out of the lot without any issues --- friends didn't fair so well, though. My friend had to get back to Chicago by 7am the next day for work, so we only had time to help out a few --- it was great ride home, seeing the sky become brighter while heading down the Dan Ryan with music blasting was pretty cool - I was about to start my senior year in high school, I felt like all was pretty damn great. I thought the rain added a whole different experience for my first show (the last night of the run) - I wasn't bothered by it. Before my friend and I he
  20. Not a big fan of National Dust, either -- Wilco was the best choice of the three, at least.
