  1. http://www.gdao.org The Grateful Dead Archive Online is up and going. I guess the UC Santa Cruz library opened up the Dead archive last week, also.
  2. That scene with him and his guitars is great.
  3. If I remember correctly, a main reason they were going out on tour was to get John some money - could be wrong about that, though. I think that was one of Pete's bitter comments, during the aftermath. I am guessing, if his wife was selling his Walkman, John did not leave much behind, as far as money goes. I bet the Pawn Star guy kept the Walkman for himself - I think he is a big Who fan, then again the old man probably made him sell it. Never gotten around to see the Who live.
  4. Nice piece by Pete regarding the 10 year anniversary of Entwislte's death. Do remember Pete being pissed - perhaps rightly so.
  5. We were a cool grade school For the 7th and 8th grade dances sometimes we had live bands play - they usually played for the whole school during a assembly during the day. anyway back to Rush....Haven't heard the new album, but man, nothing brings out the Audiophile's, like at new Rush record.
  6. In the early/mid 80s, I remember bands played in our gym while I was in grade school. One time, a local guitar player, who was also guitar teacher at a guitar store was playing, my buddy who had him as a teacher, got to get up on stage and played Johnny B Goode with the band - I thought it was the coolest thing at the time.
  7. That was a great show - enjoy watching the repeats on one of the ESPN channels. Are you embarrassed that you are watching the show or watching it on your Kindle?
  8. He striking out a lot, still - but at least he's hitting the homers and has the RBI's - still a lot of room for improvement, though - but much better than 2011. They need to start winning the close games. I guess they are 5th with runs scored - pretty good, I guess - but again a lot room for the timely RBI.
  9. Well, they are good enough for the Central.
  10. Lillibridge made a hell of catch yesterday - but he is having horrible year hitting. Good trade for the White Sox - they are back in first, too.
  11. With this immigration policy I don't think President Obama is changing his stance (or pandering) on immigration. Is he bringing it up now to get votes - sure - it's his job to get as many votes he can get so he can elected - it's the game of democracy. But if the President hasn't changed his view on immigration with this action - how is it pandering? I do support Obama's action - wish the President's administration and Congress would get off their hands and actually do more...
  12. Okay - got it, now (little slow this morning) - I thought of that after I posted my last comment.
  13. Well, I don't get it, A-Man.....but I do enjoy his videos, too.
  14. It's looks like it may be already sold out. Hopefully it just a computer glitch - but who knows. It would have been great to see them at the Auditorium. I had the 21st show but not the 22nd, until I grabbed it last night off of etree. http://www.dead.net/...-picks-volume-3
  15. nalafej - did he draw a good crowd?
  16. Did you make it to the show last night? I didn't make it up there.
  17. Honestly, I take pretty much anything Jules says as condescending - it his M.O. I didn't take it as be condescending against employees, but to the President, while others may have thought it was towards employees. But like I wrote in my first post regarding his hiring comment - it's a good thing, whether they be temporary positions or permanent. We hired two guys this week - unfortunately they probably will be temporary - but it's a start. I am in the trades (HVAC). I don't expect a visit from the President, though.
  18. http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/music/turnitup/ct-ae-0617-billy-corgan-20120615,0,3227226,full.column Nice interview with Greg Kot.
  19. Jules said the above - I believe it was taken by some as being condescending. Actually Jules should contact his congressman and he just might get that visit - though I have a feeling his business is not in a Democratic district - so the district may not want to advertise the 100 hires ----- I could be completely wrong about that though - my point is, if you want the President to notice - write your Congressman. Jules standing next to the President would be a great picture.
  20. Even though he is a commie pinko, LouieB is a great person to share a concert experience with - wouldn't have met him, if it wasn't for this board. Him liking jazz is a great plus, too.
  21. http://www.cbs.com/l...fault&play=true From yesterday on Late Night with Letterman. Good stuff - I enjoy Elizabeth Cook's radio show, as well as her music - she sounds cool on her radio show and looks hot as hell.
  22. Well Rogers just played Bonnaroo - or at least he sat in with Phish and performed The Gambler - so a bunch of stinky hippies may start showing up at his shows.
  23. That's cool - I didn't know that. Does he talk about what he was doing between 71-75 and how he supported himself, ie was he on the Dead payroll still ---- I guess I should read the book...
  24. He has a few books out about drums and percussion instruments - I don't think he ever put out an straight forward auto-bio, though. I haven't read any of them.
