I was kinda hoping for Dave Martinez, he seemed like a good choice. Ventura was one of my favorite Sox players, so he has that going for him, but someone without any Sox ties might of been a better choice - he definitely is going to be the polar opposite of Ozzie, but I think anyone would of. Hopefully Ventura works out.

Tribune states: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/chi-sox-name-ventura-to-succeed-guillen-as-manager-20111006,0,2120262.story Well this should be interesting. I don't even remember seeing his name being batted around.

I did check Hyde Park Records today - no luck.

Dombey and Son has been on my "to read list" for a very long time.

So far the consensus on the Hoffman board is that the 2011 remaster are an improvement over the 1994 ones - not that really means anything, though.
-
Not really sure what you mean by "straight forward remastering", but it is a new remaster or different than previous ones.
-
I don't think so - but I am far from an expert.

I picked up WIsh You Were Here and Animals on Cd - they both sound good.

Tortoise was a great opener those two shows.

Agree.

By way of my brother I have that one too - his wife made him get rid of it when their daughters reached 4 and 6. I was going to start a bit of debate with her about parenting, but I just decided to accept it.

From today's Sun-Times: http://www.suntimes.com/8033118-417/chicago-area-expected-to-endure-worst-winter-weather-in-nation.html But still, don't let that deter you from coming to the show.

This kinda reminds me when Dylan played the Aragon, Riviera, Vic, then the Park West over four nights in 2004. Of course he did it in March (when it was warm).

Going to see him this Thursday in Chicago. I like the new one, but I think I like Real Emotional Trash better. They changed the venue for Thursday's show from the Vic to the Metro. I always assume there is a venue change due to lack of ticket sales (the Metro is a bit smaller than the Vic), but I could be wrong about that. Of course, the Metro show is not sold out yet. -
Another show just announced on XRT. Dec. 15th -Tickets on sale this Sat.

Enjoying the 99 show - always loved Can't Stand It from this line-up/time period.

So is that considered a Carl solo album or a Beach Boy record? Also noticed that Blondie Chaplin was on this album - didn't realize he was part of the Beach Boys for a bit. Forget it I see it is a Beach Boy record
-
Definitely a favorite off the new one - it was great last Saturday night live in Nashville.
-
Heard Marcella on the radio this morning on the way to work - good tune. I don't think I ever heard it before, but I do not listen to the Beach Boys very often. The below is from Wiki - I did not hear the "essence of the Rolling Stones" in the tune at all.
-
I would mind him managing the other Sox team.

That is a sweet looking guitar.

Was in the waiting room for a while and was lucky enough to get 2, which is good because I got shut out of the Civic Opera show. Will be nice seeing them at the Riviera, again.

Nashville night 1: Kingpin I can support this - done. That's nice.

I like Guillen, but the whole drama thing did get old. Crappy way for it to end, but very Guillen/Williams like. I don't think Williams is gone - perhaps he may get bumped into a different spot in the front office. LaRussa coming back would be great.
