Jagger and Richards were basically two nerds (Keith liked cowboys and Mick, economics- and they both loved the blues). Marianne and Anita helped them out on the cultural part of spectrum. In my opinion, that open them up to better things. Not saying their early stuff wasn't great - it was. Though, some may say their influenced hindered the band.

I don't think the Stones would have become what they became, if they did not meet up with Anita (and Marianne Faithful). Both played important roles in rock and roll history. Anita was something - from what I read -- would have loved to hang with her, maybe in her later years, she probably would have scared the hell out me when she was younger.

Speaking of a ABB show without an Allman - now listening to the last night of the 2012 Beacon run, that Gregg missed due to health issues. Bruce Katz is on the keys. One of the few live release that I bought from this run - the other was the show with Nels. This show was definitely well played. I can't remember if they offered people their money back or not.

While shaking his head, my dad recently told me that both my sisters voted for Trump. He didn't come out and ask them, he just brought up Trump's name in a phone conversation and they jumped at Trump's defense - he told me not to bother bringing it up with them, because he was sorry that he did - they just kept on making excuses for the Trump regime - I am going to heed his advice.

I guess he is talking about bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc ----- for some reason bands like Dead & Company came to mind, which I don't think what was he was talking about - in hindsight. With the Doors situation - if I thought about it, i suppose I would have stood with Densmore. Ha - i go over to the hoffman board and the 2nd topic is "Lynyrd Skynyrd. How they destroyed their legacy."

Man, that was a good interview. Glad he mentioned Dickey and Jaimoe. Trucks and Haynes definitely has been through a lot over the past few months with Butch/Gregg/Hampton. I wonder who he is talking about about the whole "There are a few bands out there right now that are using names that maybe shouldn't be. That's another discussion" bit? I also wonder why people care about such things. (damn page break -- Derek Trucks interview)

The Bobby talk shows that I saw were pretty fun --- Weir and Parrish were entertaining.

Finished up with the doc., last night. Did think it focused a bit too much on Garcia - but I guess that is expected. Did notice that Wasserman was behind Weir in the press conference scene right after Garcia's death - which bummed me out even further. Also I am glad they got the Barlow footage, prior to his recent health issues --- speaking of health issues, it looked like they may have been shooting Weir while he was going through his physical heath issues, esp. in one of the last scenes where he is getting into his car and heading to the field, it seemed like he was struggling a bit.

Curious - if you had to choose, who do you despise more - Keith or Paul? (I kid.) I never put much thought into McCartney -- must admit, though, after reading Beatles '66: The Revolutionary Year, he seemed like he was an interesting person in 66, at least.

I am guessing the footage was from Live at Newcastle-Under-Lyme on 1970-05-24 - Hollywood Festival Below is a link about filming the event. http://www.ukrockfestivals.com/hollyfilm.html They talk about the below in the film. Just finished Part 5 - it was nice to see all the Dead Heads, again. I guess it would have been cool to have a small captions of the shows/scene that was being played. I am sure eventually all the scenes will be documented.

Yep, I guess --Amir Bar-Lev was on the show this past week --a caller called in and mentioned the MG omission in the doc. and Lambert mentioned her upcoming book -- I am assuming Bar-Lev definitely reached out to her - why wouldn't he. Hopefully her book is well written and interesting. She definitely has a tale to tell.

I heard on the XM Tales show that Mountain Girl is putting out a book --- so I am guessing she is keeping her stories to herself for the time being.

The main bass player (Dave Dreiwitz) is in Ween - at times, Ween is on tour while JRAD is out and about, hence they find a sub once in a while. Still need to catch a JRAD show.

Altamont: The Rolling Stones, the Hells Angels, and the Inside Story of Rock's Darkest Day He mentioned that Terry the Tramp was also a heroin addict - which goes against Angel code ----- which I found interesting. I started on Greenfield's book on Bear, but it didn't hold my interest. i just flipped through it.

Well you can throw on a 72 show and keep the volume down -- that's what I do when I don't want to listen to my 'uncle'. His replacement (Jason Benetti) grew up in my neighborhood and went to the local high-school - so it's nice to have a local connection. He even made it down this year for the town's little league opening day and threw out the 1st pitch. Kinda cool, I guess.

In Chicago, Bono definitely had his tough moments and it did seem some of the tunes were played in lower key, but I thought his performance was great, none the less.

Yeah - what Chez said --- baseball announcers get to be a bit like a family member over a long period of time --- to outsiders a particular uncle may be an annoying blowhard, but to a family member he is just 'Uncle Ron' or 'Uncle Ken' and we accept them with all their faults.

Up to part 5 of the movie - nothing real new (information wise) - but it is nice to see some footage that I have never seen before - the European footage was pretty cool. Also heard the Dead & Co's take of China Doll, with Oteil on vox - pretty nice version.

I like Hawk, though he should have retired a few years ago. Santo was always enjoyable to listen, too.

The Saturday Chicago show was pretty damn great. Definitely quite the production. I very impressed with the sound, Bono vocals were a bit hot during the first few tunes, but they finally fixed it and everything sounded pretty perfect. The Edge was something else - hearing his guitar sounds ring through out Soldier Field was definitely the highlight. Clayton dropped some great bombs/licks, too - that reverberated around the stadium. U2 definitely knows how to make a stadium sound like you in a club. Also really enjoyed seeing and hearing the Edge on keyboards. It was me and my wife's first ti
