  1. I can't see a Stones/Dylan collaboration not happening. At the very least Ronnie will sit in with Dylan - maybe Keith, during a standards tune. Dylan can sing an old blues tune with the Stones. Keith is a fan of the standards (at least Hoagy Carmichael type of stuff), maybe Dylan will sit in with Keith during his solo singing slot of the show, though the earth may implode with Dylan/Richards duet.
  2. Just got Zappa's Roxy: The Movie from the library yesterday - got the house for myself later on today for a bit and looking forward to watching it. Been watching the below on Amazon - interesting stuff.
  3. Pitchfork has put out a nice spread. Guess we can say the Grateful Dead has officially jumped the shark. Kidding - kind of. It is cool that the youngins are coming around and they are focusing on the actual music and not only the scene. http://pitchfork.com/features/article/9888-grateful-dead-live-on-why-the-legendary-band-still-matters/
  4. Curious to know if permission from Disney was needed. Nels looks pretty funny and the cat was a nice touch.
  5. Surely, it's good beer. My sister lives up there; it's hard to convince them to visit the place, because they are Miller Lite and cocktail drinkers. I do not know one Minnesotan who is a craft beer drinker. Miller Lite, Crown Royal and Bloody Mary's seem to be their drinks of choice -- which is all perfectly fine, I guess.
  6. I think that Dylan set is fine, but, maybe not for festival like this. So there are only going to be two bands per night - not much of a festival. I was expecting more bands scattered during the day - then again the 'probably' older crowd would not want an all day type festival.
  7. Haven't listened to Tempest in a while -- according the below, (a nicely written New Yorker article on Tempest): "the lovers in “Tin Angel” meet their end in a triple murder-suicide". (sorry to spoil it for anyone) http://www.newyorker.com/culture/culture-desk/older-than-that-now-dylans-tempest
  8. Sounding good, Lou. Missed the beginning part, but been listening since 5:40 or so. Saw the Miles movie this morning -- it was entertaining. More of action film - which was a bit weird.
  9. Below is a link to a Rolling Stones Music Interactive Map of London --- would love to make it that Stones exhibition that is going on in London. Only looked briefly at the map - looks pretty cool, though I a sucker for such things. http://www.musicheritageuk.org/maps/stones-in-london.html
  10. I love and respect Steve Goodman - a lot. Was a great Chicagoan.
  11. Horrible song. Almost as bad as "Go Cubs Go". The whole Vedder' White Sox cap may have been a dig at Seattle, too. The White Sox played the Mariners in the playoffs in 2000 - the White Sox got swept. I had a ticket to one of the playoff games, but I had to give it to my dad, since I was recovering from a hernia operation and was pretty immobile.
  12. I thought I read that Neil stopped smoking pot... Hopefully the library system gets it at some point -- I haven't gotten around to hear "The Monsanto Years" nor any of recent boots from the tour. I heard great things about the tour and some not so great things.
  13. Ugh - Trump. Though if he can throw better than Danks, have the dude pitch. I was watching Pearl Jam's Touring Band DVD yesterday and Vedder was sporting a White Sox cap at one point - i was kinda surprised, though the White Sox were great in 2000, which is when the DVD was shot.
  14. Susan B. Anthony has already been US Currency.
  15. From Politico: (Doesn't seem like a very strong ticket to me - but I am not a Republican)
  16. Love the umpire's reaction in the below video. Glad it did not knock Sale in the face.... Man, Sale and Latos are off to a great start. The league may start to figure Latos out, but I think Sale will be different story. Obviously it's early, but it's shaping up that Chicago will own both Cy Young Awards. http://m.mlb.com/cws/video/topic/47150548/v632074583/cwstor-navarro-almost-hits-sale-tossing-ball-back/?c_id=cws
  17. And who can forget this lady from 2008. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeGPzk8Oca8
  18. Ah fuck - I forgot about that show. Did they get a good crowd at the Hideout.
  19. Yeah - I know, it's one of my favorites, though. Maybe, because other than the title track, the only time one is going to hear the other tunes is if you listen to the record. I love Pete's guitar playing on it - Roger sounds great. The lyrics, throughout, are far from great. Moon is a shadow. Entwistle is not much of a factor, either. Still a great album.
  20. Never tire of the Who Are You record - esp. on a great Spring-weathered Sunday afternoon, with a glass of wine.
  21. Nils definitely ripped on that solo. Good stuff.
  22. Sure, horrible base-running - but last year the White Sox would have managed to blow the play, somehow. And Farmer is great.
  23. It's fun being a Chicago baseball fan now-a-days. Last year the White Sox would have been lucky to get one out... "That was fire drill - the house was ablaze and now it's no longer burning" - Ed Farmer - White Sox radio guy - perfect. http://m.mlb.com/cws...-play/?c_id=cws Go White Sox!
