I think they also register cars so that they can be traced back to the owner if stolen and/or used in a crime. Also cars are registered for insurance proposes, I suppose too - so the state can ensure that the owners have some type of liability insurance. Curious to know if gun owners have to tell their insurance company that they own a gun, like they do if they own certain dog breeds (for home owner insurance purposes)?

As a democracy, it's the only way it can be done, though. Vote people in / vote people out - hopefully the system of laws can and will change. How else can it be done in this country? One can bury the head in the sand and do nothing - thinking their vote is not gonna change anything - which is exactly what big business and others wants people/voters to think. Also saw my second Bernie bumper sticker in my neighborhood -- one of those round "Feel the Bern" ones - clever - and again the car was driven by a women - so my neighborhood score card is two (2) Bernie's and zero (0) Clinton's. And

Last night's setlist from Oslo - first night of the tour. Seven Frank related tunes - he is turning into quite the crooner. A couple that were not even on his latest record. Like that he ended the show with "Love Sick"

Cool poster. -
Another tune I always liked from the gospel era is "Ye Shall Be Changed", off the first Bootleg box --- a preachy as all hell tune, though, but the melody and music works.

I am still convinced that the 'Columbia recording artist - Bob Dylan' intro to every show, at least since the 90s, is because they know someone is taping the show and at least they want people to hear record company's name on it. Besides the Dead - I can't think of a group/person who is booted more. I know a few people who still tape Dylan shows. They always were a ball cap to the shows

http://www.dylanradio.com/ DylanRadio.com plays lots of songs from bootlegs --- the site is not like Owl and Bear at all, though. Plus, I don't think they ever play complete shows all the way through.

I agree, if Arrieta doesn't have a 21 Win season, the Cubs would not be in the playoffs and many would be talking a lot more Lester's poor season (at least in the W/L department). Next Wednesday, the Blackhawks will be hoisting another banner at the United Center and the Cubs will be playing in a playoff game -- great night for Chicago. (too bad they won't be playing at Wrigley or least most likely won't be)

Dylan actually won a Grammy for Slow Train Coming - category: 'best rock vocal performance' - it's funny to see the words 'best', 'vocal' and 'Grammy' together when talking about Dylan. Always enjoyed "Man Gave Names to All the Animals" - fun, little ditty.

I would buy the 79-80 set -- i enjoy the music quite a bit -- perhaps not necessary the lyrics - per say, but the band was pretty good. Dylan was into it, too - vocally.

You probably saw the SS Spartan in action -- it's still docked in the harbor - my kid and I enjoyed it's massiveness - especially it being so close to the dock -- we saw it on the way into the town/campsite and he and I wanted to look at it again on the way out. Both times we went to the harbor the SS Badger was gone.

This past weekend, the family and I camped up at Ludington State Park in Michigan, the wife and enjoyed a six pack of the below. Good stuff.

I didn't realize they did a whole record of Disney - definitely will need to check that out.

I was driving around with my kid and had XM Kids Place Live on - Los Lobos' version of "Heigh Ho" came on - kinda reminded me of 70s Satana (mostly because of the percussion). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sp9gtCseNQw Also WXRT is still streaming a recent live in "studio" show. http://wxrt.cbslocal.com/show/live/

Yeah - I thought the same thing - all all the studio tracks on disc 2 of the soundtrack come from these sessions.
-
Checked his Wiki page - didn't realize that he made so many solo records, nor did I realize that he discovered Lynyrd Skynyrd.
-
No I haven't read it - he definitely was in some cool sessions, so it might be an interesting read - if he doesn't overly fawn over himself too much.

That should be a good set --- Al Kooper, for some reason bugs me, mostly because he comes off as a pompous ass - hopefully his quotes are not all over the liner notes - or worse writes the liner notes. Usually the liner notes for these sets are great - I am sure it will continue to be so with this set. Probably will settle with the two disc set - like I did with the Basement Tapes.

http://www.dozin.com/ The above is a great site on Grateful Dead gear and instruments.

It is nice to have exciting baseball in September again in Chicago - hopefully it will keep on going through October.
-
Not sure if you read the Grateful Dead Gear book - but I bet the above is discussed in the book. Obviously the Dead spent a shit ton on gear --- of course it all starts with the musician, but I am guessing having great gear helps immensely.

Is this from Disc 2 in the Grateful Dead Movie DVD - I haven't watched it in awhile, but it looks like it.

https://archive.org/details/gd70-09-20.aud.remaster.sirmick.27583.sbeok.shnf 9/20/70 --- 45th Anniversary of one of my favorite shows. Perfect show for a Sunday afternoon, too.

Poor choice of words on my part -- what I meant was that I saw Phil play with Billy, Mickey, and Bobby at the Fare Thee Well shows - so I won't miss him too much down in St. Louis. I did not go to Lockin -- worldrecordplayer did - he may know.

My friend got two cheap tickets for the St. Louis' Dead & Company show. Looking forward to see how it pans out -- really looking forward to hear Oteil ---- since I just saw Phil play with them over three days -- I not that upset that he won't be around this go around --- esp. happy that I don't have to worry about hearing him sing. Hopefully Mayer and Oteil will be allowed to push the tempo's a bit... Also looking forward to seeing the Billy and Mickey playing again.
