  1. Townes Van Zandt - Waitin' Around to Die, Kathleen... and a crap load of others.
  2. I haven't listened to the Odds in ages, unless of course I count Craig Northey's "Corner Gas" theme song . The Odds always had a handful of good songs on each of their records. I'll have to look into this one.
  3. Back to this one again. It's growing on me with each listen: Martha Wainwright - I Know You're Married But I've Got Feelings Too
  4. For consistency purposes I would change them all too. Newer strings are a brighter sounding, so if you want them to sound a bit warmer just play the guitar a lot after changing the strings. A week of playing the new strings should deaden them a bit.
  5. Marquee Moon, one of my favorites NP: Martha Wainwright - I Know You're Married But I've Got Feelings Too
  6. Totally! I still remember how beautiful and vivid the stars were when I was there. Definitely a great place to watch the stars; better than Hollywood and Vine that's for sure .
  7. I just commented about this one in the Rock movies thread actually. I have the DVD of this movie. Seeing that this is out-of-print I'd be willing to do a trade. PM me if you're interested.
  8. I forgot to mention that one. Good film, though far from uplifting for sure. I'll add a few more while I'm at it: The Beatles Anthology (5 DVDs) Johnny Cash in San Quentin (Good doc that came with the "Johnny Cash At San Quentin" box set)
  9. The guitar solos, especially the outro solo is definitely some of the best guitar moments on any Stones record. That wonderfully bright and distorted tone just leaps from the speakers proving Keith could actually play more than rhythm. The Godard film Sympathy for the Devil is interesting to watch if you like this song. It's funny to see Brian Jones sitting off in the distance in the studio doing next to nothing. It was obvious by this point he was not long for the Stones... or this world.
  10. : I have the 2-fer CD that also includes Texas Cookin'. Guy Clark is a songwriting master/god. NP:
  11. There's hardly any music or insight. It's quite mundane actually. I doubt I will ever watch it again. Thought of another recent one I quite liked: Scott Walker: 30 Century Man. I'll also add Man in the Sand as I don't think it has been mentioned yet.
  12. Some days that's my favorite record too. Always in my top 10 that's for sure. NP: Still playing the Townes Van Zandt box set
  13. I'm a big fan of music docs and films so my list will probably be long... Dont Look Back Stop Making Sense Eat the Document Cocksucker Blues The Complete Monterey Pop Festival The Kids Are Alright Standing in the Shadows of Motown Dig! Come Feel Me Tremble Be Here to Love Me: A Film About Townes Van Zandt You
  14. I did this with my Strat years ago. Pretty much right after I got it as I don't use the whammy at all. I just used a little block of wood to stabilize the bridge. Haven't had any issues with it since.
  15. Future Bible Heroes - Eternal Youth
  16. I have all his records--including the two Kelele Brothers discs--so yeah, I'm pretty excited about this new record. I've seen him live a few times, but it has been years so I'll probably go the next time he's back in Toronto.
  17. I want to wait for the CD but I may have to grab the MP3s to tide me over until the July 8th release.
  18. I'm looking forward to this new Sexsmith disc--as I do with every Ronboy release. How is this one? NP:
  19. I believe this was the working title of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot at one point. I remember that Rod Stewart story circulating back in the day. It was around the same time as the Frank Zappa drinking a goblet of audience members spit, or was it puke, or urine? I can't remember anymore...
  20. Every so often I have to come back to this gem.
