  1. i know where my first showing will be. My backyard on release day!
  2. Not to be picky but f*ck that Palladium. It's a horrible sounding room. The Granada is all around a better venue for sound, sight and staff. I kinda doubt Ft.Worth will never be on a tour stop again. Just doesn't seem like a Wilco thing to do for a place that sold out and had a great live audience response. He might have just meant they would not be back that tour.
  3. Texas needs some love and we were missed somewhat last time the band was in the region. I had to go all the way to Tulsa and see a show at the historic Cains Ballroom witch happens to be part of the soon to be released DVD. How about another Ft.Worth gig guys?
  4. One show does not make a carrier. Even if Jack Black says "it can change the world" The two shows i saw with Jay were very good. My first exposure to any form of Wilco live or otherwise was a Dallas gig while Jay was playing and that show inspired me to collect their back catalogue as fast as i have ever collected any bands back catalogue. But the first time i saw the current band play at the New Port folk Fest before AGIB was released blew the shit out of any Wilco gig i had seen before that. And that show inspired me to catch nine other shows from that tour with each one just as memor
  5. I saw the band twice before he left and I don't know if i would say i was glad he left at the time. It was not up to me and i got no vote about it, after all I'm just a fan. But i do prefer the direction the band has taken sense his departure. I think Jeff is much happier on and off stage, I met him while Jay was with the band and post Jay. I don't know for a fact that Jay was causing Jeff some of the social issues he seemed to have. It's just a observation. And anyone who thinks the band is better live then, then it is now is either very sentimental or delusional.
  6. Jeff would still be addicted to pain meds because of the massive daily headaches he would still be getting, and i'm pretty sure he would still be chain smoking. So although the band might still be producing good music; although a few more drone induced songs al la "less then you think". Our main man Jeff would not be as healthy and happy as he is today.
  7. That would have been a good one for Bonds, McGwire, Sosa, Gonzales, Giambi or any number of juiced players from the mid 90's through the early 2000's. They could have gotten away with it because the conspiracy was thought to be juiced balls as the reason for the power surge the game saw. To bad the song was not release until that mess was over.
  8. I usually relate seasonally to records depending on when they were released and i heard them for the first time. And sense Wilco has always released their records in the Spring ; at least sense i have followed them Summerteeth and on, i have a hard time relating any of their work to fall and winter. Not that i don't listen in the Winter but when i do it reminds me of Spring and Summer.
  9. I got this nice blog with a shout out to Wilco from the Everest web page. We're 3 shows into the tour and it's been even more amazing than we'd imagined. So far the crowds have been even larger and more intense. There's a lot of smiling going on, and I think that everyone involved wishes this tour could go on longer. The Wilco guys are blowing our minds every night with their playing, and it's definitely inspiring me to step it up. And, to boot, they are great to hang out with and are complete gentlemen. The other night Jeff Tweedy said that it was an honor to be sharing the stage with Nei
  10. Nice to see this band mentioned here. One of my favorites. Sorry you didn't dig it Lammycat but IMO 4 songs is not enough to evaluate a show knowing nothing from a band before hand. But i must admit their music is not for everyone, especially if your into mainstream. For a indy band, or any band for that matter, to pull off the musical extravaganza this tour stages is refreshing. As Kevin barns says, if the visuals are too much for the audience just close your eyes and listen. The stage production is meant to assault the audience senses. The Dallas show i saw last week was amazi
  11. I loved it because the past year everything i have heard from Obama has been encouraging for me. And to hear he was giving encouraging messages three years ago makes me more excited for what's in store in the next four years.
  12. A new youtube video. It's probably been mentioned here at some point but i could not find it in a search, so here you go... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=l2m1tHuyPag&sdig=1
  13. I love that while taking a picture, jeff makes the same face with the future leader of the fee world as he does when taking a picture with his average fan.
  14. to make it clear Analogueman, Cook sang lead in front of ZZ Top on the American Idol finals. I never thought i would see a band of ZZ Tops stature sell out so bad.
  15. I wonder if David Cook will make another cameo with them on stage?
  16. i too had this issue with the stubbs gig so i gave up, then i just now read your second post about waiting... Who would have though 2 hours later tickets for this gig would still be available?
  17. When i saw Of Montreal back in October at the Pageant it was GA on the floor with a roped off area for those over 21 by the sound board with tables and chairs. The rest of the floor was SRO. The balcony was GA but they never opened it because the space was not needed. There is a small bar adjacent to the venue called the Halo and if you arrive there early enough those in the bar at the time the Pageant doors open get in before everyone else. It is was one of the best small venues i have ever been to. From the sight lines and quality sound to the fan friendly staff. And it's located in one
  18. "Sounds good in here. For those of you that have never seen Wilco before, I'm singing with about 50% of my voice. I usually sound like Fantasia... You remember her? I use to sound like her. she's awesome." -J.Tweedy, Cain's Ballroom Tulsa
  19. two days between Austin and St.Louis...come on boys show Ft.Worth some love!!!! The Ridglea Theater would be a dream come true.
