I know this isn't the place for this sorta question, but I'm going to ask anyway! If any LA natives/frequent travelers have a recommendation on where might be nice place to stay for a few days, that wouldn't be terribly inconvenient for a drive to Largo, I'm all ears! Even just a neighborhood with some nice restaurants/shops would be a great place to start. Also, curious if those who went to the last JT run there (2013?) can comment on how early that GA line begins to form... From what I've read on Largo's site, their method of assigning GA seats seems pretty well organized, but I'm not sur

Jeff opened one of YLT's Hanukkah shows at Maxwell's (12/03/2010). Pretty sure YLT opened for Wilco the year before for their Coney Island show, but my memory isn't very good (and I wasn't there).

Jeff will be a guest on Prairie Home Companion on 12/16 in NYC. He has the holiday show on 12/15, and it appears that YLT have their Hanukkah residency at Bowery Ballroom that same week. Good chance that he opens one of those shows, too.

If it's any cheaper for you, I'd be happy to proxy. You can have it shipped to me, and I'll send it to you. I know some people get great FedEx/UPS discounts. FWIW, shipping was ~$11 or so for me. Might not save very much, but I'd be happy to help.

Had a great weekend in Portland, which started with the American Acoustic show at the State Theatre and ended last night with Wilco. No real setlist curveballs, but that didn't take away from what was an enjoyable set. I can't think of many banter additions, aside from Jeff mentioning that John is living in Maine. A brewery out of Burlington, VT, called Foam Brewers is producing some top-notch hoppy beers. In an area that's basically producing some of, if not THE best beer in the country, it's impressive that a newcomer like Foam has gained traction so quickly. I appreciate their beer names too, which include: Pavement, Built to Spill, Son Volt, Joy Division, etc. Maybe one day they'll make a Wilco! I think the thing that ticks me off the most is not the setlist, which is tired and repetitive, but the absurd ticket prices. I think I've said this elsewhere in this thread, but for a guy who rallied against "golden circles" and made a stink about his album prices, he's turned into a total hypocrite. When I think about SSF, I mostly think about quality time with my father, who attended the first 3 with me (and the benefit show at Mass MoCa on one of the off-years). My fondest memories are for SSF1. It was all so new, and to experience that with fellow fans and the band was really exciting. I think about chatting with John and Pat while waiting for coffee. Standing next to Nels in the Hunter and talking about what a joy the festival was.
