2014 BASEBALL SEASON!!!
The Inside of Outside replied to Sweet Papa Crimbo's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
The Red Sox are painful to watch. They have one player hitting over .275. Drew, hitting .135, is making a cool 10.1 million dollars. Jackie Bradley, Jr. is hitting .209. Even Pedroia, at.262, is having an off year so far. Yeah, they have had injuries, but the two players who are rehabbing in the minors (Victorino and Middlebrooks) are hitting .242 and .197. Oh, and those two just stopped their rehabs today because they are re-injured. They are pretty lousy right now. But there is a bright side - ticket prices on Stub Hub will likely come down enough so that regular joes can go see them -
That is hilarious. And disturbing. All at once.

Those hot dogs at Jack's are killer. In many ways. Looking forward to one for lunch on June 26, 2015.

2014 BASEBALL SEASON!!!

I can't think of a compelling argument to keep smokeless tobacco in MLB. I am surprised it has not been banned already. Looks like the Player's Union did not agree to a proposal to do just that in the last round of bargaining: http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2014/03/06/tobacco-chewing-nasty-habit-still-kicking-mlb/nZDZK9LOFDlr0MFj9X1WkO/story.html -

That was fun. They definitely "Autumn-Defensed" the song. -

That was inspiring. -
I thought they were on fire at the Ommegang Brewery in 2012. That is a favorite of mine, too. Sunken Treasure, Either Way, What's The World Got in Store, a ripping Standing O, and a great final encore. For me, it is one of the best from the last few years.

Happy 30th to Born in the USA
The Inside of Outside replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
Great songs that I got burned out on surprisingly quickly. Don't think I have listened to it in 25 years. Doubt I will listen to it in the next 25. -
I dig your positive outlook, linclink. You are always good for a glass half full viewpoint, and I appreciate that. And come to think of it, I am happy about the # of songs on the upcoming release, too.

I caught the end of Steve Gunn. We got to the venue just after they had evacuated for a fire alarm, so his set was interrupted - right in the middle of it from what I gathered. I liked his sound - wish I had heard more. Jenny Lewis was a pleasant surprise. And Kurt Vile just plain rocks.

Kurt Vile and the Violators / Jenny Lewis.

A good read so far. And she was (is?) a Wilco fan, as evidenced by a few references to the band.

That sounds like fun - I love the Wind River Range.

I live in a town adjacent to Freeport - LL Bean is 10 minutes from my house. I have been to several of the free summer shows at LL Bean - Guster, The Head and the Heart were two that I saw last summer. People can go early in the AM to set up chairs on a small hill in front of the stage. I have never done that - just stood in back as I got there just before the shows start. I'll be putting a chair out for this one...... Crowds are fairly lame there, as folks from Freeport and surrounding towns go there to see the shows and often have no idea who it is who is playing. They are there to sit and

Rural southern Indiana is a fascinating part of the country. Sounds like a great pairing with the music, and a great day.

I completely forgot, until I read this, that I saw Page on the Outrider tour. That was a good band. I do remember seeing The Firm on the tour for Mean Business in '86. And that was not so good. Lots of starts/stops at the beginnings of songs and some sloppy playing. I thought Jimmy looked pretty wasted.

Summer plans are starting to come together. So far, it looks like: Old 97s Cracker Conor Oberst/Dawes/Baseball Project Jason Isbell

2014 BASEBALL SEASON!!!
The Inside of Outside replied to Sweet Papa Crimbo's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Darvish is a tough pitcher to hit and all, but the Red Sox look awful at the plate tonight. And for most of the season, for that matter. The have 3 guys in the lineup right now hitting .229 or below, and the best average in the lineup is .284 (Napoli). Ouch. Meanwhile, their opponent, the Rangers, have 3 guys hitting .312 or better in the lineup tonight. Guess who is winning.... -
Supposedly great bands/artists that you cant stand
The Inside of Outside replied to NoJ's topic in Someone Else's Song
I find Prince to be a polarizing musician. I had a really hard time listening to any of his music until I was enlightened by going to see him live. His band was a complete funk fest. But if I had not seen him live.... -

Them's fightin'words! Actually, I get it - I am not a fan of their overplayed early 80s catalog. "Can't stand" is a pretty strong term. For me, strong enough for: REM (Later period) Phil Collins Queen Styx Billy Joel -
Favorite Albums You Can't Listen To Anymore

I am in the "can't listen to The Wall anymore" camp.
