Wilco on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert

RNG rocked! s there an extra bonus song web exclusive? -
Sorry if I'm repeating myself (I've posted this elsewhere). When I walked into the State Theater last Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. I was really looking forward to hearing SW played in full for the first time, but I didn't think I'd want to hear it in full 3 straight shows. By the time I walked out of the State at 11:30 that night, I could not wait to hear it again and again at the two Orpheum shows. Absolutely astonishing to me all 3 times. If I was seeing another show this tour, I'd welcome another chance to hear it in full. That's my $.02.

I've had tons of GD live stuff over the years, going back to cassettes, VHS tapes, and SHNs and FLAC's. I buy these official releases of shows/eras I like because I find the official recordings sound so much better than anything I acquired on the WELL or from friends, etc. They put out great sounding discs. And I like the booklets and photos that come with it (though for DP 17 all the photos are from outdoor shows and I didn't think this was an outside show). Also, streaming doesn't do me any good for serious listening. So, that's why I buy them. I'm way past the point of feeling like I

Wilco - 2/2 - Capitol Theatre - Portchester, NY
worldrecordplayer replied to cracked & hooked's topic in After The Show
That's funny, the one time I saw them at the Cap was the middle of the 3 night run they did there. Jeff scolded the audience for not being enthusiastic enough to bring them out for an encore, that we were taking them for granted. I think he was pretty pissed about that, as he then ranked on that night's crowd during the show the next night. That was my first and so far only visit to the refurbished Cap. Definitely love that place. Peter Shapiro did a great job with the renovation: phenomenal sound and lights, taking out the seats on the floor, and good bars and the Garcia club. I wish he -
Do you have a link to the interview? Is it a single interview with both Tweedy and Courtney? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Got my DP 17 yesterday. Haven't listened to it yet (still listening to the Wilco shows I caught), but when I do I'm going straight to Disc 3.

Feb 6th Brooklyn show song request! Can you help me!
worldrecordplayer replied to remphish1's topic in Just A Fan
Put in another request. Hope you do better than I did, went 0 for 3 on the 3 shows I saw. -
Meanwhile, I've not been able to find that interview. I've searched Under the Radar's FB page and it's own website. So if anyone comes across it please post the link. Thanks.

Wilco has been hitting the stage exactly 1 hour from the announced show time. At least that was the case for the shows through the Orpheum run. I don't know what happened in New Haven.

I lived through that transition, and it took me years to attune my ears to Brent's singing and playing. I eventually got it and can now listen back to the '87-spring '90 period and more appreciate Brent's contributions. That being said, I was at the famous Cape Cod show in October '79, which is a definite highlight show. But at the time, I was not very accepting of Brent at all. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Wilco - State Theatre Portland, ME 1/27
worldrecordplayer replied to Cam Jones's topic in After The Show
If "Bob" is the guy who taped and posted both Orpheum shows, he was not at the Portland show. Damn him! I saw a pretty substantial rig set up in front of the board, so I was expecting a recording to circulate. -
Taper Bob100 also put this show up on Dime. Someone posted the following comment, I thought you may be interested to read: "Interestingly, I spoke briefly with Glenn Kotche after the show, who said that the band was very pleased with Friday, which sometimes means a letdown the next night. He was glad to hear that everyone had been so floored with the second performance."

Winter Thaw Tour Appreciation Thread
worldrecordplayer replied to roadhse ma's topic in After The Show
Excellent thread Mr. Roadhse. I was at the same 3 shows and couldn't agree more with everything you wrote. I remember when I got my Portland ticket wondering if the winter weather would interfere with this road trip. Weather could not have been more perfect for a very easy drive to Portland for my first show at the State. Really liked the venue, and so wish the Orpheum owners would take a page from the State and Cap (and Beacon) and invest some money in that venue. It's such a great sounding room, but it is old and crappy looking and could benefit from the lifting of the front orch sea -

I was Row C in the left center mezz for night 2, and nobody stood except for a couple who were up and dancing a few seats down from my wife. What a mess that turned into. People behind them were yelling and screaming at them the entire show, until security escorted the dancers out. The people behind them yelling and causing all the commotion should have been thrown out IMHO. My view, if you want to dance at a rock show, too bad on the folks behind. It's a freaking rock show, you should expect folks to be up on their feet. We weren't at Symphony Hall. Funny thing was at some point deep in -
I was banging the ballot box for each of the three shows I saw: I Must Be High, She's A Jar, and Summer Teeth. I went 0 for 3. This is a SW and greatest hits tour. Nothing played last night wasn't played at one of the previous two shows. No deep cuts at all. I am not complaining, last night was a top tier show in every way. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

One set list detail: they skipped a verse in Taste the Ceiling. The part that starts "Why do our disasters creep so slowly into view." My favorite line in the song. Somehow they went straight into the bridge or chorus or whatever you would call it. Jeff's bead snapped back momentarily when he realized it, and they never went back to it. EDIT: I listened to the recording today, what I posted is totally wrong. They did indeed sing that line. Don't know where I was.
