Very cool! Glad it was such a great experience.

Nice! I visited the field even though there was no game/action when I was in Birmingham to see the great show Wilco put on a Sloss Furnace a few years back. The field looked really great.

Yes, I need to read about that now. Just finished the book and saw his note about there being that event.

I'm reading Thirteen Ways of Looking by Colum McCann. It is a short story collection. The first few have been great.

Where to Invade Next - Michael Moore. Enjoyed watching it. Not quite as thought provoking as some of his other films, but a good watch.

This west coast swing is impressive and fan friendly. They could have easily done 1 big show in these cities (like they are doing in Chicago and Minny), but instead they are sticking around for weeks to give the fans (relatively) small and intimate shows. You can't really even compare the Riviera residencies of '08 and '14 to this 5 night Filmore run because The Filmore is a landmark theater kept in pristine shape whereas the Riviera is a dump that isn't maintained. The Riv also seats 2500 vs the Filmore's 1150 so the Filmore is really way > The Riviera run

They did sell a five day ticket for the Winter Residency in '08 (I got one but then missed the final show because I got sick like everybody else waiting in line). They did not sell it for 6 night run in 2014 which is obviously the more recent example.

I'm in Minneapolis next week. I was thinking about visiting Surly Brewing. Good beer? Good idea?

Was planning to (I have a ticket) but I'm now headed out of town and may catch her in Minneapolis on Wednesday. Have fun. -

Saturday's show is sold out. Still tickets available for Friday. In case you were wondering. -
Playing Ten and Vs straight through over the last week or so....has to be a crow pleasing move. Would have liked to have caught those. I was happy to lucked into Yield when they did that one.

We need this for Wilco - especially for the once a month request for somebody visiting Chicago and wanting to go to sites... Pretty cool. Thanks for posting.

Wilco is playing Winnipeg on August 13th. I'm not sure that I saw them announce this one - they are part of the Interstellar Rodeo. Tickets are on sale.

No. I don't think we've met before and I didn't know you were going to be there. Maybe at an upcoming Wilco event...

I thought the show was great too. I'll add that the opening act was HOMME which is Sima Cunningham (of TWEEDY fame) and Macie Stewart. I thought they were cool. The covered a Jim O'Rourke song and said it was weird to play it given the headliners played on the original.

Came across this on John's Twitter feed. Jason Narducy is great so I think this is a nice gig for John. The video is hilarious and a must watch imo http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/splitsingle

Axl is a bad idea. They should just hang it up. Why risk ridicule after such an impressive run?

Visiting Chicago next month. Wilco stuff I should check out?

I have a few other suggestions: Besides Marina City, you could take a walk around Adler Planetarium and The Shedd Aquarium. That is where the cover of I Am Trying to Break Your Heart was shot by Sam Jones. You could try to get into CRC which is where Wilco recorded music prior to the Loft and scene of the famous puking incident in IATTBYH. You could visit the old Soma Studios site in the heart of Wicker Park (which is a fun neighborhood). Soma is where Mikael used to work and a photo of the door to the studio is the cover of the Down With Wilco album by The Minus 5. Super Dawg was the -
"Wilco hits the road in full force starting June 1 in Charleston, WV and continues on to Hunter, NY's Mountain Jam and Philly before heading overseas for the first of two full European tours (Euro kickoff June 16 in Bergen, Norway). Then it’s back to the homegrown, that is, the US midwest, for shows in Kansas City, St. Louis, Madison, Minneapolis and Chicago. A west coast tour looms for September and there’ll be more surprises announced soon." Great email!

Great list of songs and I'm sure that was pretty cool to play with Jeff. Thanks for reporting!
