Caught the show at the Vic last night. It was a lot of fun. The setlist has gradually expanded since the European leg. I've seen them 20+ times so the only songs new to me were the covers: Hush, Street Fighting Man, Medicated Goo, but I thought that they did a good job of mixing the hits with some deeper cuts. Jackie isn't going to cut it long term. I'm not a Marc Ford freak. I enjoyed the band with Audley, Luther and Paul Stacey. Jackie just doesn't seem to have the feel of the lead guitar role.

Woman Wakes from Coma, Requests A Bob Seger Show
nalafej replied to Mr. Heartbreak's topic in Someone Else's Song
I saw Bob last weekend. He is so un-hip that it is cool. He doesn't care about being hip. Refreshing. If you like classic rock there is no way you don't like a half dozen of his songs. Does it make Wilco unhip that he is covering their song at all his shows? -
Widespread Panic for the first time since April, 1996

http://www.texastribune.org/2013/04/02/consumer-group-pushes-ticket-resale-law/ Paperless tickets are a blessing and a curse. I like that it gives me better odds of paying face value for a hot ticket, but dislike that if my plans change I am sol.

I agree there is always a chance to make money and not all musicians join a band to get PAID (why caps? makes me think of the new bad ZZ Top song). Jury is out on AL Shakes. I'm saying if the value of performing live music decreases so do the amount of people attempting to do it. I love live music and want to see tons of people making a go of it - even those who wish to make some money doing so. I used to be a Kid Rock fan btw. Still like some of his songs, but his politics started to piss me off during the last election (even though he respected other opinions I just couldn't see supporti

Absolutely includes those artists. I love seeing them too (great show at Lincoln Hall last night w/ Deerhoof). I'm putting forth an idea (not original) that if there isn't a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow there won't be people out there going for it. Deerhoof isn't a good example, but Alabama Shakes - how long would they continue to make music and tour w/out making money if there wasn't a chance to make money in the future?

As somebody who goes to a lot of concerts I appreciate this move from the wallet standpoint. BUT I have some concerns about this. 1) de-valuing the experience - Bob Ritchie can't single handedly change the value of a concert, but if the value of a live show goes down that leaves no money for musicians. Live music is it as far as revenue for musicians at this point. I want to hear good music. I'm willing to pay for it - I hope others continue to do so as well. Otherwise we are stuck with whoever is capable of doing it without making money. 2) Drinking and driving. I paid $24 for two bee

Classic rock night! Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band (looking forward to hearing their version of California Stars in person) and Joe Walsh. Edit post show: Really fun classic rock show. Unfortunately Bob's introduction of CA Star left a lot to be desired. 1st of all, said he hear the song for the first time two months ago. 2nd off all, mentioned that lyrics were by Woody but not mention of Billy or Wilco. In Wilco's home town. Bummer.

They recorded it and released it. What else are you looking for?

Still looking like Sho 'Nuff 1998 tour to me. 35 songs including 7 covers over 5 shows w/ an average song count of 18 songs. I think I'm going to scale back to one show instead of two.

Looks like it. Nice work finding that! Up to 5 gigs in June now...

I gave them two shows! I do hope they keep switching it up. I know two shows doesn't tell the whole story, but I think we'll have a good idea after week 1 where this is going.

I enjoyed his take on ticket pricing. Thanks for posting.

show 2 setlist very similar. greatest hits. I love the hits, but I'm surprised they are going this route.Reminds me of the era when Audley replaced Marc. Those setlists didn't change much from show to show...

I was there and thought the show started out so strong - as in, one of the best I've seen ever (26th solo show). The momentum was lost after Long Cut. There were some great covers and memorable moments/banter after that, but I really didn't think the show ever recovered. What is the guitar tech doing if not tuning the guitars? That seemed to take up a lot of time (as mentioned above) - although did inspire one of the more hilarious audience shout outs I've heard at a show (Something to the effect of "That's it!" as Jeff was tuning and was getting close). To each his/her own, but really surpris

2013 Jeff Tweedy benefit shows at the Vic...
nalafej replied to lazy locomotives's topic in Just A Fan
Lots of religious songs that would work great tonight. Wonder if the requestors are up for it. Theoologans would be awesome. The Pope by Prince would be funny. And then on the fringe of being appropriate for today: Satan your Kingdom..., Ruling Class, Jesus Etc, You and I... -
Free Low & JT Performance Plus Q&A - Chicago 7th March
nalafej replied to Albert Tatlock's topic in Just A Fan
Low sounded really good at the event. They played 6-7 songs. Really good. After a break, XRT dj Marty interviewed the band and Jeff and then opened up to audience questions. Most of the comments were along the same lines we've already read/heard Jeff and Low make. One comment Jeff made that sticks in my head is that he feels prouder of this project than any other he's been a part of. Thought that was interesting and would have liked to be able to ask a follow-up..."even Wilco?" -
Great, fun show. They played everything I wanted to hear. Dave is great. The new guitar player didn't do much for me personality wise, but his playing was good. I can check "See a band play 'We Are The World'" off my list.

Soul Asylum (90% sure I'm going). Never seen them. Not sure what to expect...

I wouldn't be surprised if they add shows. Logistics of moving gear around half the country for three shows doesn't make great sense even though these festivals are probably big pay days. I could see them playing shows between the OH and TN dates. Wilcoworld indicates that the band is playing opening night of 'roo.
