I agree there is always a chance to make money and not all musicians join a band to get PAID (why caps? makes me think of the new bad ZZ Top song). Jury is out on AL Shakes. Absolutely includes those artists. I love seeing them too (great show at Lincoln Hall last night w/ Deerhoof). I'm putting forth an idea (not original) that if there isn't a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow there won't be people out there going for it. Deerhoof isn't a good example, but Alabama Shakes - how long would they continue to make music and tour w/out making money if there wasn't a chance to make money in the future?

As somebody who goes to a lot of concerts I appreciate this move from the wallet standpoint. BUT I have some concerns about this. 1) de-valuing the experience - Bob Ritchie can't single handedly change the value of a concert, but if the value of a live show goes down that leaves no money for musicians. Live music is it as far as revenue for musicians at this point. I want to hear good music. I'm willing to pay for it - I hope others continue to do so as well. Classic rock night! Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band (looking forward to hearing their version of California Stars in person) and Joe Walsh. Edit post show: Really fun classic rock show. Unfortunately Bob's introduction of CA Star left a lot to be desired. 1st of all, said he hear the song for the first time two months ago. 2nd off all, mentioned that lyrics were by Woody but not mention of Billy or Wilco. In Wilco's home town. Bummer.

I gave them two shows! I do hope they keep switching it up. I know two shows doesn't tell the whole story, but I think we'll have a good idea after week 1 where this is going.

show 2 setlist very similar. greatest hits. I love the hits, but I'm surprised they are going this route.Reminds me of the era when Audley replaced Marc. Those setlists didn't change much from show to show...

I was there and thought the show started out so strong - as in, one of the best I've seen ever (26th solo show). The momentum was lost after Long Cut. There were some great covers and memorable moments/banter after that, but I really didn't think the show ever recovered. What is the guitar tech doing if not tuning the guitars? That seemed to take up a lot of time (as mentioned above) - although did inspire one of the more hilarious audience shout outs I've heard at a show (Something to the effect of "That's it!" as Jeff was tuning and was getting close). Low sounded really good at the event. They played 6-7 songs. Really good. After a break, XRT dj Marty interviewed the band and Jeff and then opened up to audience questions. Most of the comments were along the same lines we've already read/heard Jeff and Low make. One comment Jeff made that sticks in my head is that he feels prouder of this project than any other he's been a part of. Thought that was interesting and would have liked to be able to ask a follow-up..."even Wilco?"

Great, fun show. They played everything I wanted to hear. Dave is great. The new guitar player didn't do much for me personality wise, but his playing was good. I can check "See a band play 'We Are The World'" off my list.

Soul Asylum (90% sure I'm going). Never seen them. Not sure what to expect...

I wouldn't be surprised if they add shows. Logistics of moving gear around half the country for three shows doesn't make great sense even though these festivals are probably big pay days. I could see them playing shows between the OH and TN dates. Wilcoworld indicates that the band is playing opening night of 'roo.

Lineup looks great to me. Wilco is up to 4 shows in June. Think they will tour most of the month? Hope so...

Lennon/ McCartney did not work together creating new music for that long if you look at their discography: 1963-1969. Tweedy/Bennett were 1994-2001. Pretty similar length before it stopped working.

I miss Jay too. Got to see him play with the band 3-4 times. I do find it interesting that that movie makes you miss him though. Didn't think he was presented in the best light.
