  1. YLT will be on WFMU's The Best Show tonight at 9pm! TheBestShow.net. They are my other favorite band (besides Wilco) in the Cosmos!!! I'm hoping to catch both the Troy, NY & Toronto, ON shows on 9/23 & 9/30!
  2. Longest: 600 miles & about 9 hours to Chicago for a pair of the all-request fundraiser solo acoustic Jeff Tweedy shows at The Vic. So great the first time, I did it again for a second year, but couldn't do this year- both for finances & because there was only one show. First time it was fly in & bus back, second time was driving to & from. I'm generally pretty open to going that 4-5 (250 to 300 miles) hour journey without much hesitation (weather, schedule & finances permitting)- being located near Rochester, NY that means as far as NYC, Philly, NJ-Conn.,Toronto, Cleveland,
  3. Reviving this thread in light of the official announcement yesterday regarding Wilco's Friday show on the first night of Solid Sound 2015: "For the first time ever, the guys will unplug their instruments and perform a full set of Wilco tunes acoustically. If you’ve seen the band on its recent tour you may have seen them do a mini-set like this (i.e.: this performance of “Casino Queen” from Wilco’s recent show in Indy), but as Solid Sound 2015 gets rolling they’ll turn Joe’s Field into an intimate living room and play a full acoustic set (with amplification). “It’ll be a bit of an experiment,”
  4. And for those that might want to mix & match to make their own version of a "20th Anniversary Roadcase Shows Virtual Wilco Unplugged/ All Acoustic Album" (very simple to do with most any program, I did mine on iTunes)...I posted my 2 CD version recipe in the post above this one... Here is the raw material below for creating a great Virtual 2 CD-R "Wilco 20th Anniversary Unplugged" set. In the previous post I gave you my recipe for how I ended up doing a 2 CD set of 79 minute CD's. Luckily it just worked out pretty easily...arrange 'em however you want. So we are working with the 3 Port Ch
  5. Since the first night is acoustic/ unplugged I'll take this time to share my recipe for a "20th Anniversary Roadcase Shows Virtual Wilco Unplugged/ All Acoustic Album", from a thread I posted in here awhile back... "Here's how my 2 CD-R's worked out...I ended up choosing to drop the audience sung "Ripple" as cool as it was. Others might choose to drop the two extra versions of "Give Back The Key To My Heart"- it appears here on VOLUME I from the Chicago Winterlude shows, & then again twice from Port Chester on VOLUME II (the only song repeated in the whole Port Chester run). Arrange 'em ho
  6. "Next year's show..."!!! Right On! First I've heard mention of this tradition continuing! Such great news. I was wondering if it might end when his last kid finished the Montesorri school (which I think is very soon, if not already). With no Solid Sound next year, I'd hope to possibly make this again, if it was a two night stand (too far to travel for just one show). Great requests BTW- Know he chose "Pot Kettle Black", which is great, but I'd also have loved to have heard a version of "Everyone Hides"!!
  7. Sadly, for whatever reasons, Roadcase #18 & #19 are no longer available... those were the 2013 Solid Sound shows (#18 being the all request covers show you mentioned here).
  8. You could possibly inquire (posting on their wall, or sending them a private message) with the good folks over at The Loft...For they are the great grand guardians of all gear related stuff involving Wilco... https://www.facebook.com/TheLoftRecordingStudio?fref=ts
  9. So sorry, & that seriously is a a tough price to pay for Social Justice, but hopefully worth it to you. Personally I absolutely support their move!!! If it happened where I live, in New York State, I'd hate to see shows cancelled, but I'd support it... that, of course, it made easier by the fact that traveling to an another out of state show is an option for me...
  10. Looks amazing!!! And while I'm sure we'll most probably get Richard Thompson playing with both Wilco and Tweedy/Jeff Tweedy & Friends... I'm still a bit surprised, & disappointed, that they didn't end up having Richard Thompson play both acoustic & electric sets. Oh well, a minor point amidst some amazingly well balanced days!! Onwards to Spring first, then Solstice & finally, Solid Sound!!!!
  11. Archived here: http://www.irocke.com/watch/playlist/00000022822/00000000006
  12. First off... Just two nights of Wilco & one of Tweedy (assume they will close Sunday) for $125 would be worth it to start with. That this is is where it is (Mass MoCA), & it's run with such a sense of creativity, adventure & playfulness just take the whole thing to the next level as far as festivals go. Second Richard Thompson!! He is up there in my personal top ten artists list. Not only is he playing, but he's pretty much certain to play with Wilco on, at least, one night(maybe two if we are lucky) & then there's even the potential for Nels & Jeff to sit in with him duri
  13. There are some different sections up, that I think are new, such as "2013 Lineup" (you can even click on a link to other past lineups there), "Past Activities" & "Archived Photos"... guessing we'll here either this week, or next, who the first wave of performers are... http://solidsoundfestival.com/lineup/ http://solidsoundfestival.com/festival-activities/ http://solidsoundfestival.com/photos/ And here are all those amazing line-ups...just to refresh memories, whet the appetite & increase the antici-.....wait for it.... -pation! As Foghorn Leghorn would say- Anticipation that is...
  14. Well Richard Thompson I think is a pretty certain one, but I'm holding out hope for both electric & acoustic sets!!! Like when Yo La Tengo played last year & did the film soundtrack performance & then their regular set... Speaking of which, yeah, if anyone were to repeat, please let it be Yo La Tengo- who are celebrating their 30th anniversary this same year that Wilco is celebrating their 20th. St. Vincent would be another absolute top shelf choice. I think Cibo Matto are quite likely this year...speaking of which, I certainly hope that we also get a repeat of Nels Cline &am
  15. I'm sure hoping that we get another "all-request" show of covers again!!! I don't know if they'll do it, but I think it was an amazing idea & I totally adored it. Last time I got my request, "And Your Bird Can Sing", & it got done twice no less... this time I'm hoping that they'd either open, or better yet close with my new request- "It's All Too Much"!!! Speaking of "It's All Too Much"... camping reserved last week, & finished off getting the last tickets for our crew today...whew! Just in the nick of time... 140 days to go & counting down to the return of the wonders of the W
  16. I don't think so. I think it'll be Wilco on Fri. & Sat. night & then the closing act on Sunday will go... A set of Tweedy, then Jeff solo acoustic & then the finale will be the Tweedy Band coming on to host a run of special guests. Looks like I'll be there until late on Sunday!!! This is exactly what I was hoping we might get...now if we can also pull off BOTH acoustic & electric sets from Richard Thompson...and the inevitable Thompson & Wilco/Tweedy collaborations that will occur as well- hopefully at every possible turn/opportunity. Really hoping that we get Nels Cline &a
  17. Sufjan Stevens would be amazing!! And he's out on tour coming soon as well (http://www.carrieandlowell.com/tour) to support his forthcoming album... tour dates, so far, run from 4/10 to 6/10, with a Festival date on 9/6 as well. So there's nothing that would currently conflict with Solid Sound. I'm pretty sure we'll see Richard Thompson there (which, for me, is a dream come true on the scale of having Yo La Tengo there last time- hoping he does both full band electric, & solo acoustic, sets)... Andrew Bird would be welcome, & The Replacements would be just great too!!! I'm still holdin
  18. Great news to start the day with!!! ""It's over three years since Wilco's eighth studio album, "The Whole Love", was released but the ninth might not be too far off. The band are back in the studio in February to get the process underway. Tweedy believes it's the right time for Wilco to record again having played in Chicago before Christmas. Tweedy emailed new songs to the other band members on New Year's Day ahead of their studio return. "It felt right," he said. "It was a good start to the new year.". " Of course Wilco did some recording work in 2014 as well... and apparently Jeff & Spe
  19. And, that's a wrap! Thompson, as always works pretty fast, & this picture & update was posted today by "The Loft" noting the album is now done... https://www.facebook.com/TheLoftRec...0452572070755/742060812576594/?type=1&theater
  20. If that's true, I hope their fans will be happy, but I'm not one, so, at the very least, I really hope they don't end up as a headliner. What little I know about Jim James, he seems like a cool & nice guy, but I encountered these guys plenty at AmericanaramA & not only did they do nothing for me, but while I don't hate them, that nothing didn't go in a better direction with more familiarity...
  21. OK "Sukierae" now replaces whatever you used to consider Wilco's most underrated album...for me that is "Wilco (The Album)", for lots of others it's either that or "A.M.". I know this isn't a Wilco album, but then at the very least it's Jeff Tweedy's most underrated/overlooked/misunderstood album ever. If anyone else has some good year end list news to share in regards to this, feel free to chime in. Because as far as I can see, this album is just not getting anywhere near the recognition it deserves in year end Critic's polls/best of year end lists. It's making some, but if at all, it's not
  22. He might vary the TWEEDY set by a song or two...Between Buffalo & Ithaca (a week apart) there were differences... unique to Buffalo- "Pigeons" & "Why, Why, Why" & "Please Don't Let Me Be So Understood" for encore... unique to Ithaca- "Honey Combed" & "Wait For Love" & "Jesus Wept" for encore...so you could have a few song minor variation... Cross over for the acoustic set (12 songs in Ithaca...14 in Buffalo including a final acoustic encore) were 5 songs- "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart", "New Madrid", "Jessus Etc.", :The Ruling Class" & "I'm The Man Who Loves You" M
  23. I was just talking to a friend about this at New Year's. I don't think there's much of any logistical way for me to go to both this, & Solid Sound as well this year. I wasn't sure if Sammy had graduated either, as Montessori schools usually only go through the end of Junior High School, which, I guess, means he must either be done, or close to done (don't know exact details there, just general age). The coming month of March now looks to now be pretty taken up by the recently added TWEEDY tour dates, so, if it happened at all, it'd most likely have to be sometime in April- and they have ha
  24. Not that I was feeling that bad for Chicago, considering the Winterlude six-pack explosion of Wilco 20th Anniversary shows, but... I knew you'd get your TWEEDY/Jeff Tweedy gig eventually...and now two, & with The Minus 5 opening no less. Sweet!!! As in Sweet Home Chicago!!!
