I whole-heartedly agree. Old Billy Joel rules, newer Billy Joel, not so good. -
My first album was Huey Lewis and News - Four! My first concert was at the Skating Rink in Rice Lake, WI - I saw Airkraft in about 1989. Who you may ask? Airkraft My next concert wasn't until 1996 - I saw Everclear at the Hollywood Theater in La Crosse, WI.

A Minneapolis Trio - The Gaels. They play traditional irish music and it rocks. Discovered them at the Irish Festival in Saint Paul a few years back.

I thought he was doing Jesus Christ Superstar on Broadway. I guess I am not with the times. -
Okay, as long as you can admit it. Her album is also probably selling well because it is at record shops for like $7.99. You really can't go wrong, plus it is a damn good album.

Never heard of it - is it on cable? I still have the rabbit ears so if it is on the cable I can't watch it.

Interesting read, thanks. I always learned that was a slider. -
Their live show from Feb. 17, 2007 in New York is up for download at the NPR Live Concert Series: NPR ARCARDE FIRE Can't comment on the show yet because I am currently listening to it. So far so good though

This is the worst of the bunch. I don't mind hearing a song on a commercial if it is the real song, but when they change the lyrics to include their product it kind of makes me sick. That Of Montreal song was one of my favorites and now I can't even hear "Let's pretend we don't exist, Let's pretent we're from Antactica" - all I hear is "Let's go Outback Tonight" Ahhhhrrrggghh!
-
Interesting.

First song that comes to mind (and stays there) is "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)" by Rupert Holmes.

Just heard this on the radio. Sounds like someone wants to break a few more QB records - he is about a season away from all time yards, TDs and a few others. I hope he goes out a winner - which he should as long as the Packers can build a bit more in the receiver department.

Actually, Andrew's band was named Andrew Bird's Bowl Of Fire before he went solo. Andrew Bird's Bowl Of Fire made at least 3 albums, including the before mentioned "Swimming Hour" which is very good (my first taste of Andrew). The band included Nora O'Connor, among others. Andrew went solo for Weather Systems and then The Mysterious Production of Eggs. He still plays some of the old songs from the band in his solo shows. So now you know the rest of the story. -
Mine too, but I would also like to throw in "Hoist That Rag" and no list would be complete without "Southern Cross" by CSN

How about the local (Mpls) gals Joanna James and Haley Bonar?

If you are of our age and freaks like my wife and I you could take the Goonies tour on the way to Canon Beach. Just go into Astoria and visit the Goonies house - Data's house is right next to it. Then you can check out the courthouse the Fertelli's break out of and Mike's dad's museum. It is all pretty cool if you loved the Goonies like we did. There is a website that shows you where everyting is - we absolutely loved it!! Goonies never die!

We have a lot of love for Portland. The wife and i make a yearly trip out there and hit Cannon Beach each time we go. We had to stay in Seaside last time we went, not as nice, but cheaper lodging. Finally hit Tillamook too - great cheese factory (and I am originally from Wisconsin!). As far as Full Sail goes, isn't it brewed in Hood River? The brewery in Bend is the Deschuttes Brewery. Great beer and even better food (if you are ever in Bend). I believe Full Sail is brewed overlooking the Columbia River and Mt. Hood. Aw, the memories, such a beautiful place...when the sun is shin
