Well, I’m livin’ in a foreign country but I’m bound to cross the line Beauty walks a razor’s edge, someday I’ll make it mine If I could only turn back the clock to when God and her were born “Come in,” she said, “I’ll give you shelter from the storm” and from another song... Oh, the Union Central is pullin’ out and the orchids are in bloom I’ve only got me one good shirt left and it smells of stale perfume In fourteen months I’ve only smiled once and I didn’t do it consciously Somebody’s got to find your trail, I guess it must be up to me

It really is. I'm on holidays right now and although I've got lots to do around the house, I find myself returning to it for just one more chapter before the next task.

Put this on at work today because my ipod in my pocket started playing Harness Your Hopes and it occurred to me that I hadn't listened to it in a long time. Man, what a record. And the extra songs on the re-issue. Reminded again of what a great band they were.

The Delines - such a wonderful band to see live. A stunning set of songs which sounded beautiful. My wife and I spoke with Willy Vlautin after the show and he was generous and humble and an all 'round good guy. He signed my copy of Northline and I left the venue a happy man.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing even though I've already bought the CD. But I've just bought a new stylus for my turntable so...

Some thoughts on this record after two listens: Firstly, I am really digging this album, probably somewhat more than I expected. Agreed. My first listen was on a long walk at night and I came home elated. My second listen was driving through city traffic yesterday, a sunny Saturday afternoon. Beautiful. I had a great moment walking the other night. Had headphones on and I must've looked a fool because Where My Love came on and I couldn't stop laughing with the pure joy of the music whilst emitting various "Ohhh!"s and "Ahhhh"s and "Oh man!"s at how much I was taken by this song. I'm i

Bob Dylan (last night). A lot better than I thought it was going to be. The recent stuff sounds fantastic live. Forgetful Heart was sublime.
