This definitely was a slightly shorter set than usual because of the strict curfew, but you omitted a couple songs from the setlist you posted. Didn't see a printed setlist, so I couldn't say what, if anything, was audibled/left out. And yes, they've played Sonny Feeling a few times now (its live debut goes all the way back to last July in Fairbanks, Alaska, fwiw). I'd say there was a decent chance that The Late Greats was also on the printed setlist, though it didn't get played. Where was Wilco on the day their new record came out? As it turned out, a small town in southern Oregon with a neat little outdoor amphitheater. Early on, Jeff said, "Welcome to our backyard. I mean, your backyard." That was kind of the feel of the show, for better or worse. I was curious whether, on record release day, the band might play a couple more songs from the new album or debut one they haven't played live yet. They were Jimmy Vivino, otherwise known as the guitarist for the Tonight Show band/Max Weinberg 7, and Chris Seefried, who is apparently a friend of Vivino's and a singer-songwriter and producer in his own right.

I would agree with a lot of that, for sure. It was far from their best show technically, but sometimes that makes for a better (or at least from the audience perspective, more lively) show. Jeff had a few very minor lyric flubs and the sound seemed kind of hit-or-miss at times and Jeff didn't seem entirely comfortable with his equipment for at least the first part of the show. Impossible Germany was looking dire when his SG went out, but Matrix definitely saved the day and Nels' improvisatory genius really paid off and made for a memorable version of that song. Haha, if they didn't do Casino Queen in Vegas, that would have been as bad as the time they played on a landing and didn't play Heavy Metal Drummer. They have seemingly been on top of the local pandering so far on this trip, though (Hotel Arizona in Arizona, a nod to Woody Guthrie in Oklahoma, etc.). Is there any doubt California Stars will be played tonight? But in all seriousness, sounds like it was a fun show. Anytime you get Magazine, that's a positive. How packed was it? Looked like the venue was pretty huge.

For handful of people on here who care, I just heard that Nels will be sticking around NYC for at least a few more days after the Aug. 1 show with Watt and Co. He's scheduled to play Aug. 4 at Le Poisson Rouge as part of Jenny Scheinman's "Mischief and Mayhem" band (almost the same band that toured briefly a couple of years ago, the tour during which Nels contracted the chicken pox!) Fun show, but the jackass that threw like three Sharpies up on stage right at the start of Misunderstood that hit Nels hard should be ashamed of him/herself (I can't imagine it wasn't a guy). At least Jeff called out the "douchebag" with the laser pointer. This probably makes it sound like a horrible crowd, but other than those two bad apples, most people around me seemed very respectful and into the show. Wasn't there, but I can say with a fair amount of authority that they didn't play the Heartless Bastards' guitars. I'm no guitar expert, but I know Jeff did acquire a goldtop Les Paul (a vintage copy, I believe) fairly recently. Not sure about the J Mascis Jazzmaster, but it appears Nels has brought back that double neck Danelectro (?) he used once or twice last year.

Personally, I think "You Never Know" would be the song most likely to grab a new listener. Not that I don't like "Deeper Down," but the former is just a pretty darn catchy tune. I hear it's already a radio hit in Europe...

Really nice photos! I went to the show at Radio City last night, and enjoyed the Hazards of Love performance (though I think I'd need to see it at least once more to take it all in). In the second set, they did "Begin the Begin" with Peter Buck as the first song of the encore. And could there have been a better choice of a cover to do with Becky and Shara than Heart's "Crazy On You?" That was pretty kickass.
