augurus
Sunken Treasure - One of my friends not familiar with non-mainstream music visited and heard this track while my player shuffled. He proceeded to ask me how I could listen to such depressing music even if it sounded excellent. Via Chicago - I don't need to comment about murder ballads. Wishful Thinking - What would we be without wishful thinking?
froggie
last week i was listening to The thanks i get in the office and girl said "does that guy write happy songs as well?"... seems like they're all depressing
H to the ickle
How to Fight Loneliness, We're Just Friends, Nothing Up My Sleeve, and Lonely 1 are all top candidates.
yermom
How to Fight Loneliness bums me out a bit. Jeff's cover of Crack a Smile (even though the topic is "Most Depressing Wilco Song") is also pretty bummerly but they are both great. I'd much rather hang with music that stirs a little sadness than music that elicits no emotional response at all.
Kalle
The one that seems to get me is Remember the Mountain Bed, but I know live Via Chicago killed because of how awesome it was.
So Long
Via Chicago, Less Than You Think, and Bob Dylan's 49th Beard.

Guest Speed Racer
Via Chicago - I don't need to comment about murder ballads. You know, I read this really great interview with Jeff circa Summerteeth, and he mentioned its suicidal overtones - something I had never thought of until I read that. mountain bed
There's really no particular song that depresses me. I kind of embrace the sadness inherent in some of the tunes. But Radio Cure is the first thing that comes to mind.
Clouds of Fluff
Radio Cure was the first one that popped into my mind too.
Blue and Green
Having thought about it some more, I'd say that Nothing Up My Sleeve and Venus Stopped The Train would rank up there in the depressing department.I second Venus Stopped The Train.
